Some of you have wondered
why I work with reptiles. It's 'cause those freakin' mammals are not only unappreciative, they're also hazardous!
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080123...ox3jT0xMMUZ.3QA Summary: Two men in Austrailia are caught collecting crocodile eggs for the purpose of boosting hatch rates of their crocodile. They are caught...by the crocodile, who grabbed on of the men by the arm. The man's companion fired two shots, one of which hit the crocodile, causing it (the crocodile) to let go of the man. The other shot didn't exactly miss, in the Pooh sense of the word. |
Yup, reptiles have a bad rep in many ways - although it is seldom warranted :(

:yikes:
Sounds like a Pixie moment. Were you the shooter or shootee, OldFart? |
Neither dammit.
They weren't on a riverbank, they were out on a floating mass of reeds and assorted organic crap on the Marrakai floodplain. They were legally collecting eggs from a nest when mummy decided that this was not according to plan. She appeared out of the mud and grabbed one of the men. His mate grabbed his sidearm, a Glock .40 I think, and put a couple of pills into mummy to discourage this antisocial behaviour. And one through the elbow of the poor bugger in mummy's grasp. Saved his life by all accounts. |
Reminds me of a cartoon I once saw (& I wish I could lay hands on to post here) of a naturalist being threatened by a charging rhino...he calmly holds up his hand & tells the rhino, "It's ok, I'm here to protect you!"
