Sonic Boom

Can you tell I am enjoying the wonders that my new puter is affording me? Hey...I could never load a YouTube vid before! LOl!

Also...a local DJ had a chance to fly with The Blue Angels.

This guy prepared for weeks to get his body ready for what he was about to experience.

According to the trivial fact at the end...our very own Moderatrix is breaking barriers left & right. :D

You wanted everyone to see happy faces bumping into each other?? :D

I have to admit, I'd never seen the "cloud like" pattern around a jet breaking the sound barrier. Amazing.

There are some spectacular shots of the wave, but it is not a function of breaking the sound barrier. Under certain conditions of humidity and temperature, an aircraft going transonic creates the classic ballerina-skirt.

There is a (doctored) photo of a WW1 fighter in a dive with the skirt. I wish I could find it again.

My next plane will be able to do three times the speed of silence.

There is a photo somewhere of Thrust SSC breaking the sound barrier on land.. an average speed of 763mph over a mile...
I found out that the gas mileage sucks though 0.04mph. That beast sucked fuel at a rate of 4.8 gallons a second!!

Good way to check the wheel alignment (and brakes).
