Frankly speaking...
Tell me what you put on your weiner. How exactly is a dog properly dressed? What are the perfect toppings? What should it be placed in?
|
I'm probably going to be ridiculed but I am one of "those" people that puts ketchup on a hot dog. Ketchup, spicy mustard, onion and sometimes relish. Oh and celery salt!!! :slurp:
The bun doesn't really matter to me for a hot dog but for a brat I prefer a potato roll. As for my weiner I usually go with Trojan Magnums but I haven't had reason to buy such "picnic supplies" anytime recently. :boohoo: |

Perfect topping on my weiner?
|
Now you would have been disappointed if I didn't, wouldn't ya? ;)
 As for my hot dogs, if it's not a chili dog from the Hot Dog Inn, it's normally just yellow mustard and onions. |
Well, I don't know about disappointed but definitely shocked.
And damn, a chili dog does sound great right now! |
I love my hot dogs with ketchup and minced onion. mm... as for the bun, it doesn't matter, bread, bun, whatever holds it all together.
|
I keep it simple with my hot dogs ketchup and spicy mustard, occasionally chili.
They have to be bun length hot dogs! hot dogs and hot dog buns are a conspiracy I tell you. It's kinda like men and women.. the hot dogs aren't big enough for the buns, and there aren't enough buns for all the hot dogs.. o.O |
catsup, mustard (spicy, preferably), an drelish are my toppings of choice.
|
For me it's gotta be an Oscar Meyer, I can't handle heavily spiced dogs, & I never liked mustard on anything...so, it's often plain or with a little mayo (I can hear the groans...& I say joke 'em if they can't take a fuck!)...if I'm in the mood to add a little tang, sweet relish tucked down beneath the dog, or yesterday I sliced up a couple of sweet gherkins for the same effect...
And OM has the answer to the Great Hot Dog Bun Conspiracy with what they call Bun-Length dogs...8 dogs in a pack to match the bun pack, & just long enough to see a little weiner peeking out each end (which sounds a little kinky if ya ask me) |
steamed hot dog onions some kraut and sometimes chilli
|
Well, back in the day when my diet allowed for such things as delicious hot dogs mine had to be Oscar Meyer as well. The perfect way to eat it was to butter the hot dog bun and toast it under the broiler until it was golden brown. Then microwave the hot dog until it split wide open. Top it with spicy mustard, onions, and hot dog relish. Man I miss those days!!!!
Of course, if I had some of PF wiener I wouldn't be ruining my diet at all, now would I? :brows: |
Yep :D This thread stirred the taste for a dog so much I drove to the other side of town tonight to get back to the Hot Dog Inn and get my "two up & a bowl" (that's the original chili sauce recipe on a grilled, all-beef skinny wiener, not on an over sized bun, with mustard and chopped onions :p ) and a bowl of chili. :bite:
I didn't have my first one until 1948, but by then the place was established long enough then that I knew it would be around for more. :nana: |

I'm not a huge hot dog eater, but when it comes to weiners...... well, I just like them eaten, y'know?
