Political - Sarkozy, Royal, ...
Has anyone else been following the French presidential election campaign? If so, what is your guess for the results? I understand that about 33% of the electorate is still undecided - a larger percentage than any of the candidates has.

I haven't really been following the election, although I realize the two of the major front runners are Nicolas Sarkozy (who is maybe more sympathetic to a friendly relationship with the US) and Ségolène Royal (who is a woman and represents the socialist party). While I don't suspect any of the candidates are really "pro-American," it would be refreshing to have someone that at least talks in friendly terms with us. So, I guess based on that minimal understanding, I'd tend to be for Nicolas Sarkozy right now.

It looks as if Nicolas Sarkozy has won the closely fought French presidential election, based upon projections made from results in so far. Mr. Sarkozy is estimated to have won 53% of the vote, compared with 47% for Segolene Royal.
Bon Chance, Monsieur Sarkozy! :wine: |
I know this is the wrong place to do it but I feel like moaning about the Scottish elections. SNP (they are routing for an independant Scotland, and that's about all) won, with 1 in 20 votes discounted due to new ballotting system.
I hate politics. Only good thing is since Lib Dems refuse to form a coalition, SNP will not have the majority they need. Phew.... OK, so I don't like SNP... |
