Sex vs clothes: women come out of the closet.

(sodaklostsoul)

NEW YORK, Feb 5 (Reuters Life!) - For most women, the choice between sex and a new wardrobe is simple -- they go for the clothes.

Women on average say they would be willing to give up sex for 15 months for a closet full of new apparel, with 2 percent ready to abstain from sex for three years in exchange for new duds, according to a new survey of about 1,000 women in 10 U.S. cities.

Sixty-one percent of women polled said it would be worse to lose their favorite article of clothing than give up sex for a month.

Sixty-one percent of women polled said it would be worse to lose their favorite article of clothing than give up sex for a month.

"Some people say clothes make the man, but the right clothes can even replace him," fashion designer, stylist and TV personality Carson Kressley from the reality TV show "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" said in a statement accompanying the poll.

The study also suggested that clothes often wear better than relationships.

The average woman between 18 and 54 years of age has hung on to her favorite article of clothing for 12 and a half years, a year longer than she's held on to her longest relationship.

Almost three-quarters of respondents, or 70 percent, also said they believed in love at first sight when it came to finding the perfect article of clothing, while only 54 percent of women were as confident in spotting the right man.

Nearly half of the women, or 48 percent, taking part in the survey by consumer products giant Unilever said their favorite article of clothing was more reliable than their man in giving them confidence and making them feel sexy.

Wow.

Hey, thanks DB!

So it appears that until I get myself a nice rack (of ladies clothes) that I'll remain single. :(

I'm just going to go ahead and move to the Island of Misfit Toys now. :(

IM, maybe you should flay your skin, and then market yourself as a classy woman's outfit!

WildIrish 02-07-2007 02:04 PM

So the best chance a guy has of pleasing women is to provide them with clothing...and a good percentage of clothing designers are gay.

So it takes a homosexual male to please a woman.

Now THAT'S ironic!

no, the best chance a man has of pleasing a woman is to make her feel sexier than her clothes do. :p

i think this "survey" is highly suspect and i wonder who exactly were the women polled. i don't think we're talking middle america here, folks. (or europe or australia wherever)

:Dwomen polled.....*snort*

ReaperWoman 02-07-2007 03:12 PM

Haha! They certainly didn't ask me, that's for sure. Now dressing up in nicec clothes is all good and well, but sex is... sex is so much better than shopping! I guess it depends whether sex with yourself is in there or not though. These surveyed girls I'm sure could abstain for a month if their dildo wasn't out of bounds...

Everyone knows that women make clothes look sexy, not the other way around!

Irezumi Kiss 02-07-2007 05:28 PM

Notice how it's ALWAYS women who are asked these kind of questions?

Nobody EVER asks men, "Okay, no sex with women for three years versus a 40" plasma flatscreen TV, hi-def theater quality stereo system and unlimited membership to Blockbuster video with a PlayStation3 option." :kissass:

As much as I'd like to revamp my whole wardrobe with new frocks and shit, I'll be a damn fool if I were to choose between being with a woman versus clothes. There ain't no comparison. What am I going to do when I'm lonely and horny, wrap my new selvedge denim jeans around my cock and jerk off?

WildIrish 02-07-2007 05:36 PM

Very good point IK!

Then again, I hate wearing clothes to begin with. ha ha

And I have never fucked a pair of jeans that Mrs. WI wasn't wearing at the time. Not that there's anything wrong with it. :D

Men prefer gadgets to sex

ONE in three men would choose gadgets over beer or sex, a survey reveals today.

Men in the Midlands are the biggest "techno-geeks", followed by London, the south and, in fourth place, the north west.

The most technophobe men hail from Northern Ireland and Wales, while more than 50 per cent of women confess that they have only a limited understanding of technology.

Nearly one-third of women rely on husbands or boyfriends to explain how technologies such as broadband and the new generation of mobile phones work.

Male dominated

The research was carried out by ntl Telewest and Virgin Mobile.

A spokesman said: "Our research shows that technology in the home is still very much a male dominated area.

"Men will always love gadgets and gizmos. However, we were surprised to find that men would be willing to sacrifice beer and sex for the latest gadgets."

The survey of 1,200 people was commissioned to mark the launch of a combined TV landline and mobile package by the two firms.

:p

What gets me is both these surveys were done with only a 1000 women and the other with 1200 people it said not men?

Irezumi Kiss 02-07-2007 08:09 PM

I also question the veracity of these sort of polls...they seem tailor-made for certain niche marketers and advertisers to keep forcing needless crap on us we don't think about until we're made to want it...and throwing sex in there as a barometer just makes it a more amusing read...

I'd imagine that if people thought they were going to get something for free in exchange for taking the sex loss, it would be a better soak of a trade-off...but if they had to still PAY top dollar for the clothes and gadgets...that's a different story!

scotzoidman 02-08-2007 11:02 AM

Or maybe the people being polled aren't having any sex anyway, so they don't see any loss in making an imaginary trade-off...
