Wicked

I saw "Wicked" on Friday. Good theater. Well, that claim can be debated, but I enjoyed it.

The show uses the interaction between Oz's Witch of the North and Witch of the West to examine human traits like love, loyalty and appreciation for individuality, and it shines a light on misuse of power, prejudice, and using fear to control others. Behind that, it encourages the audience to look past the surface of people and events. The two main characters, Glinda (Good Witch of the North) and Elphaba (Wicked Witch of the West) play off each other well and motivate the rest of the cast. Some spectacular staging at the close of act one!

See it if you have the chance. :)

I have been struggling through the book. I bought it a long time (years) ago and just haven't had enough time to really sit down and get into it.

wyndhy, have you read the author's other "fractured fairytales"?

no i haven't but he's on my list for out next library trip. we tend to like the fairy tale twists around here. one of my daughter's favorites is the stinky cheese man and other fairly stupid tales.
