PMS - what's a boy to do?

Ladies,

What would you like your man to do when you're PMSing? It can be a very confusing time, especially when there's no hut to send you away to ;) No, but seriously, I'd like to know how to make it a little easier for her...

Lilith 01-12-2007 09:13 PM

Rub something. No, not your penis. Her feet, her lower back or shoulders, whatever she is bitching about :D

Offer to go to the store to buy her something salty or sweet or both.

Loulabelle 01-13-2007 06:36 AM

Listen to her bitching and don't dismiss it as 'just PMS' unless you want to risk decapitation.

Run her a lovely bath with lots of bubbles, oils and candles

Make her up a hot water bottle if she's got stomach ache

Learn how to give a manicure or pedicure to help her feel relaxed and pampered

Let her have her way.

Yesterday morning I was having a bad case of the moody, mad PMS. Nothing was making me happy and I was OK with that. My Sweetie over lunch asked me what it is he is supposed to do for me. I said the best thing to do for me when I get in one of my pissed off moods is to just back off and let me be. We came to the understanding that I will tell him what I need when I need it and in the meantime he will just let me do my own thing. By the evening the mood had lifted and I was back to my normal frame of mind. Of course it didn't hurt that he made dinner and cleaned up the kitchen afterwards. :)

Everyone woman is different and every month is different for her. Just ask and do that.

Send her to Iraq for five days. They'll ALL surrender up by Friday. :doorpeek:

Mayhem has been wonderful to me today, as I lay curled up on the couch with cramps. He has been offering to get me things and once in a while just gently kissing me.

I don't like pain......It hurts me.... (Lol)

LixyChick 01-16-2007 06:04 AM

I always tell Mr. Lixy, "It would behoove you to GET OUT as fast and as far away as you can".

Sometimes I find myself ranting about really stupid stuff (like...the vaccum cleaner sucking because it won't suck) and I ask Mr. Lixy if he's crazy for hanging around when I've just realized it's a week till dooms day and I'm surely PMSing at the present time. He'll look at the calender and suddenly remember there is a project he's been neglecting wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy out in the barn! Good Boy!

Belial.....ask your sweetie what she would like you to do when it's her PMS time. But ask her that when it's NOT her PMS time.

The Hormone Hostage

The Hormone Hostage knows that there are days in the month when all a man has to do is open his mouth and he takes his life in his own hands! This is a handy guide that should be as common as a driver's license in the wallet of every husband, boyfriend, co-worker or significant other!

What's for dinner?
Can I help you with dinner?
Where would you like to go for dinner?
Here, have some wine.

Are you wearing that?
Wow, you sure look good in brown!
WOW! Look at you!
Here, have some wine

What are you so worked up about?
Could we be overreacting?
Here's my paycheck.
Here, have some wine.

Should you be eating that?
You know, there are a lot of apples left.
Can I get you a piece of chocolate with that?
Here, have some wine.

What did you DO all day?
I hope you didn't over-do it today.
I've always loved you in that robe!
Here, have some more wine.

I am PMSing right now & the only advice I can give you is:

DUCK & RUN

My poor sweetie is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. The older I get, the worse my PMS gets and I admit I'm in a very bad place (as in depressed) oftentimes when I'm PMS'ing. St. John's Wort has helped ALOT, but that's another thread...

The reason he's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't is largely because I want him to leave me alone but then I'm upset if he does leave me alone. I guess what I really need is for him to hover, but not in a "hand wringing" kind of way; to just be there. Yeah, it would be really nice if he were to silently take my feet and massage them, or my neck. Sometimes nonverbal communication is the key.

I realize it's very hard for our significant others to suffer through our PMS, but I do hope they understand that it's at least equally hard to be in our skin, and that we're not doing this intentionally! It also doesn't mean that we don't love him dearly, it's just a bit harder to show it and during this time it really needs to be ABOUT US.

Any new suggestions?

All of you lovely ladies have made a few wonderful points. It's always different from woman to woman and month to month. Certain things tend to be fairly common it seems though. If she's in pain, try to do as much as you can to take responsibility away from her. You don't have to cook, you can do take out. Something that's her favorite or something that she's been craving. A show of affection, flowers, a hug at a random time. Make sure she's comfortable, if that means you have to give up your spot on the couch, oh well. Ask what she would like to do, not what she wants you to do. I've asked a woman that and I was lucky to walk away. A favorite movie, soothing music and book, a nap.....There is one other thing that seems to impress and takes something off her mind. Make sure you have whatever products she prefers. If you have to make the run though, I suggest going late at night and use the self check out. They don't bite. If you know how to take care of it and are willing to it scores brownie points.
