Anal sex growing in popularity.

I tried posting this in the Sex News forum but it wouldn't let me.

Pretty interesting stuff. Tristan Taormino will be giving two of those seminars this year. One in July and one in November.

Hmmm, that's interesting. Something I've never really been into (so to speak). One girlfriend wanted to try it but I felt awful about it because I honestly thought I was killing her when we tried it. Got to about half way in and we had to stop. We had the lube part down but maybe it was the relaxation that wasn't there, not sure.

I really am sort of surprised though that the percentages are that high.

I suspect that like any survey, careful selection of your random sample can skew your results whatever way you want them.

Political pollsters have done it for years.

I don't know I've noticed even from casual conversations about sex with friends that more people seem to be open to it. Of course it could be just who I'm friends with and who I broach the subject with.

lots of kids do it because it A. feels good and B. makes impregnation an impossibility. For people that are anal about birth control.

I like it, but it's a DMZ for Mr Osuche - both giving and receiving. No big deal, though...we've found other activities to substitute. ;)

I'd like to find a reason to own a strap-on, however. :hot:

Then some kids are in for a really scary surprise when they learn it only takes one sperm to become pregnant and semen does leak from the rectum after anal sex.

While rare it is entirely possible to become pregnant from anal sex alone.

Jude30: the Sex News forum is a closed one, to try an prevent inappropriate posts under the cover of 'news'. If you have something that you think counts as news, send the story and source link to one of the moderators, who will screen (and probably) post it.

Jude30,

It certainly is. I too wonder how accurate the numbers are.

jseal,

Wasn't it you who once told me that 86.7% of statistics are made up on the spot?

I'd say that's true probably about half the time. :p

Oldfart,

Yessir - within one or two orders of magnitude! :)

There are lies, damn lies, & statistics...

Jude30 01-08-2007 04:46 PM

I don't really question the number like I said because the agree with other numbers from other sources I have seen. Specifically a survey Playboy took in the 90s. One in five college age women said they had attempted anal intercourse, and 1 in 4 of those practiced it regularly. The first number (1 in 5) is close to their twenty something percent they quote. The issue comes down like you said to wording. I would argue that my wife and I have anal sex every time we have sex, we do not always have anal intercourse. Anal sex could be defined as any sexual contact of the anus which includes fingers, toys, and of course your tongue. I would actually like to see the full study to see how they define anal sex, and whether they include one time attempts that turn people off or if they only count people who regularly engage in anal sex, and if so how do they define regularly.

Like I said though the study does seem to follow my anecdotal evidence.

Gekkogecho it doesn't matter to me where it gets posted I just wanted to make sure I was posting in the correct forum. I moderate another message board and it bugs me to no end people posting in the wrong forums.
