Dog pack attacks gator in Florida
At times nature can be cruel, but there is also a raw beauty, and even a certain justice manifested within that cruelty. The alligator, one of the oldest and ultimate predators, normally considered the "apex predator" in it's natural ecosystem, can still fall victim to implemented 'team work' strategy, made possible due to the tight knit social structure and "survival of the fittest pack mentality" bred into the canines over the last several hundred thousands of years by natural selection See the remarkable photograph below courtesy of Nature Magazine. Note that the Alpha dog has a muzzle hold on the gator preventing it from breathing, while another dog has a hold on the tail to keep it from thrashing. The third dog attacks the soft underbelly of the gator. |
Oh! So cruel!
|
Sickening.
How could you post such on a family site? |
Poor gator.
|
Lil,
How could you feel sorry for such a cruel and savage creature? Can you not see the stress it is causing the poor dogs? |
Those mean dogs....i think the crocs not doing so well there
|
Alasse
Those poor dogs could have torn a nail or got a thread caught in their teeth. And the psychological damage, the therapy could cost thousands. |

We need more 'gators to balance the deleterious effects that feral dogs are having on the natural ecosystem.
|
Poor gator. He never stood a chance. :(

He knew the risk he was taking when he wandered into their yard. |
LOL @ db...but this is no laughing matter!
I think I see another foot at the top of the pic and I'm hoping he/she is just resting and waiting to be tagged into the battle. That's a scary gator fer sure! |
