Toadbusters

Top End Australia is in the process of being invaded by Cane Toads.
Bufo marinis is an ugly indiscriminant predator which is also toxic to anything which eats it. A single toad will kill a two metre croc stone dead. A trip to my local gun-shop turned up this little gem. Who says we don't treat these things seriously? |
A golf club doesnt do em much good either :D

they also make good cricket balls, and guess where frogga came from (9 times out of 10 they didnt make it to the other side) so i suppose thats why queen sung "another frog bites the dust"
|
lmao. can you say overkill?
a perfect example of introduced species gone horribly wrog. what's red and green and goes 1000 miles an hour? a toad ina blender, of course. :p |
Alasse
If we get the golfing community properly organised, perhaps we can make a musical spectacular of it. We all remember the Toady-bar Picnic. Didn't Andrew LLoyd Webbing write "Splats"? |
Long familiar with the invasive species issue of cane toads in Australia. There's no doubt that they're destructive, highly competetive, and dangerous to native wildlife.
But ugly? Hey, at least they're not rabbits... |
NO GG
At least in hard times they could eat rabbits. |
They have a place on this planet...in the food chain that is...right?
OK...so maybe they are the scavengers. But toads need love too, eh? *runs outta the thread before you can sling toad innards at me* ^^^always the toad/devil's advocate! |
Lixy,
Cane Toads have a place in the scheme of things, but not where and when they are in Oz. Just as an orchid is a weed in a wheatfield, this species is a weed which needs to be plucked. |
Lixy,
remember, I'm usually the first one to stand up for a herptile. but in this case, yeah, the toads really need to go. They are an introduced species, that's causing amjor havoc among the native wildlife in australia...sort of like what brown snakes are doing to Guam. |
