Transitions — Sir Edward Heath
Former Conservative Prime Minister Sir Edward Heath has died.
PM Heath served between 1970 and 1974, and was responsible for bringing the U.K. into the European Union, which was then called the Common Market. His successor Lady Thatcher said he was a "political giant" and "in every sense the first modern Conservative leader". He was the first modern leader for the party, "by his humble background, by his grammar school education and by the fact of his democratic election". He died on Sunday at his home in Salisbury, aged 89. |
Sad news, jseal. I hadn't heard that, so thanks for the update.

Though I don't recall anything about him...it's always sad to hear of a death!
