Why does this happen?

I've got my final interview with the district manager of my prospective employer, and as luck would have it.............

I've got a cold, for the first time since November or something like that.

This is important, and while I know that I won't miss the interview, unless I am dead, or die on the way there.....

It's just frustrating to know that I won't be "100%" for this important day.

Why do things like this happen?

Has this happened to anyone else, sickness or bad timing of things popping up when something important is right around the corner?

All the time hun.....I always get a cold when I'm going to be on stage and I'm only on stage three times a year at the most!

Just think of it as a positive though....your prospective employer will see that a little thing like a cold won't stop you from coming to work....and if you manage to impress him while you do have a streaming cold, you'll look better than all the other candidates who didn't have that to contend with.

I have an interview today too, as it happens....good luck with yours!

Not sure why it happens, but it does seem to, doesn't it.

Anyway, I'll be thinking of you both today. Good Luck! :thumb:

I know how it is, there was a job I wanted to see about in the paper a few weeks ago and I caught the flu... didn't get to go. Fortunately I saw 2 more this week. Don't let a little cold worry you... just go for it!

I believe stress really takes its toll on your immune system. Your resistance is lowered and voila! viruses slip in.

I have it too right now so I totally sympathsize. Take a sudafed the day of the interview. Just one, so you'll dry up but not so much you get antsy.
I call sudafed Mommy's Meth...gets you through the tough spots :p

I don't think I've ever started a job when I wasn't sick. I don't get colds or whatnot too often, but that first week of a job always seems to get me. :( Good luck on your interview, I'm sure you'll do great, cold or not!

Listen to Loulabelle, she's right on the money.

Lilith is brilliant ... I was recently at the Dr and had just this discussion and she assured me that stress brings down the immune system quite quickly removing our natural defense system against all the nasty lil bugs in the air. Make sure to get plenty of sleep as well.... lately it's been my only cure to what ails me.

Good morning everyone.

I just got home from the interview. It was very short (20 minutes) and I was not offered the position. That doesn't mean that I won't be, as they told me that they would let me know by Friday evening.

I'm depressed and frustrated because I don't know, and the fact that the interview was so short, but I'm trying to remain optimistic.

Thanks so much for all your support.

1nutworld,

Keep your fingers crossed! We're pulling for you!

1nutworld 03-18-2005 11:03 AM

despite my fears, and not hearing from my new job all day yesterday, this morning I got a phone call from them, offering me the position.

Who says life doesn't begin at 39?
