Twisted Necklaces...what to do???

It's a stupid topic, I know. But, it's a "safe" topic and one I need some advice on. Oh damn...maybe I should put this on the advice forum!?

Oh hell! It's already started now...so here goes...

I have two "special" necklaces, but I can't wear them simultaneously. They twist around one another...so much so that it looks like I only have one chain on. One is a fine chain and the other is a little heavier. One is 18" and the other 20". They are both silver. One has a heart/diamond on it, the other is a diamond solitaire.

How do I get them to stop twisting around each other? Is there a device that can seperate them at the clasp's and keep them apart? If I do wear them together it's such a pain to keep untwisting them. Is there a necklace secret I've never heard of? HELP????!!!!!

TY for peeking into my pressing topic!

Silver is fairly reasonable (you can get it on ebay even http://search.ebay.com/silver-chain...QQsac atZ10999 )...I'd get sturdier chains. Something around 1-1.5mm would still probably allow you to slide your pendants on. I would also suggest a greater difference in lengths like an 18 and a 22 or a 16 and a 20. Just depends on where you'd like them to fall.

Ahhhhh another mystery of the ages......hey, but i'm dying to see if anybody has any solutions, too.....me gots the very same prob

I have had this problem for years and I find the only remedy is....

DON'T WEAR TWO NECKLACES AT THE SAME TIME!!! ;)

LixyChick 01-23-2005 02:17 PM

Thanks Lil! Ya know...I thought of the length differences and I switched the pendants to other chains I have, but still got the same results. I don't care for the other chains so much as the ones that the pendants came on originally. It's a thing with me...about keeping a "special" gift in it's original state if I can. They keep asking me, at the jewelry store, if I'm ready to "upgrade" my wedding set yet. Huh? I can't turn in my wedding set...the ring that hubby proposed to me with and then the ring he placed on my finger when he said "I do"...and dismiss the sentimentality I treasure with them to get another set that has NO meaning behind the choice!

Oops! I digressed again...lol!

Um...so anyway...each of the chains I have have those "ring clasps" (I know they have another name...but I'm stumped as to what it is right now) and I was thinking about getting lobster claw clasps put on them instead. Matter of fact, I knew you would answer my thread first, and I was hoping that "lobster claw clasps" was gonna be your answer...lol! *sigh* Oh..and also, I'm imagining a small silver bar between the two chains, at the clasps, to hold them away from one another so that throughout the day, as I turn my neck right and left and up and down, they don't twist around each other. I wear one all the time...and if I had a solution like the bar (if it'd work), I'd wear them both all the time, only taking them off to be cleaned and adjusted if necessary. Ya think the bar thingy I described is out of the question?

Stay tuned kathy1! LOL!

Oh...gee...thanks a heap BIBI! LMFAO!

P.S. If I just invented that idea of the small silver bar and it would/does actually work...just remember who's idea it was! LOL!

*dials up the patent office and waits for replies till I hit the send button*

You could have them attached to something like this...it's for bracelets but I'll hunt for ones for necklace. It would be important to have the O-rings soldered.

I'm SURE duck tape will keep them in place.

Lilith 01-23-2005 02:42 PM

I probably have some separators similar to those above if you have a jewelry who can solder the chains to O-rings and then to the separators and then to the clasps. PM me if you want me to send some.

OMGGGGGGGGG! That's perfect Lil! The bar clasp is perfect! I'm gonna order it! TY, TY, TY so much!

OK...so I don't get rich and it wasn't an original idea...but I'm not crazy to think about something like that! So cool Lil!

And um...SHADDUP PF! *feeling a bit like Steph at the moment*...LMFAO!

Thanks again Lil!

LixyChick 01-23-2005 02:48 PM

Oh...wait...Yes Lil. I do have someone who can do the work. Mr. Lixy bought all my "good" jewelery at the same store and they do all my adjustments and cleaning, so I don't see why they wouldn't solder for me. I've asked them if there was anything like what you've found to help keep the pieces seperate and they didn't know of anything.

Gonna PM ya now hun! Thanks again!

Are they silver...or white gold? I have silver.
