Hallucinogens and revelations

If any of you have taken hallucinogens before, did you experience the oft-told-of revelations of profound truth? If so, how did you know them to be true and not your altered senses lying to you (did I say that right? )?

Not me...I'm kind of partial to the brain cells I've got :p

profound truth

truth, profound or not, is more often found in very ordinary places
like the first time you feel the gaze of a newborn child or that last milisecond
as the sun sets. possibly that fraction of a moment during orgasm
in the fragrance of flowers bloom
the scent ,as it passes, of someone that you love
the laughter of small children
I could go on however it becomes an endless loop
that is dependant upon your perception of
what truth and profoundness are.
which can be a revelation in it's own right.
well those are my thoughts anyway :trout:

Altered senses and brain processes take on a truth of their own.

Their relevance to life is purely co-incidental if at all.

Trust the real you to have a real perception of your world.

My wife and I smoked pot a long time ago and when under the influence...she discovered just how great Doritos really are. :D

I used to follow bands around the country, so I've done my fair share of "truth seeking".....but I have to say.....I don't remember a thing! But I had a lot of philosophical conversations with people! :) I just don't know what they were about.....wish I could help more....It's a blurry period of time for me!

osuche 11-18-2004 10:40 AM

I've written down very profound revelations fter not sleeping for 3 days...any number of times....and had them make no sense after I was well rested. Does that count? I'm too much of a control freak to like drugs....heck, I've only been *drunk* twice!

wyndhy 11-18-2004 02:59 PM

did a whippit (sp?) once, many ,many years ago and did have some sort of it's ALL connected and exactly HOW it's all connected eureka but then i lost it. coulda been something...then again i also told the doctor, after the nitrous oxide wore off enough fo me to speak, that i LOVED him just to PIECES AND the nurses AND his office was so-o-o c-c-cCUTE AND that i had my period AND that if he wanted to he could pull all my teeth cause he was so good at it it didn't hurt at all.

I did some strange things when I was younger....I do remember going to bed one night talking to my best friend and saying things that in my mind at the time were complete epiphanies and profound ideas. I even wrote them down because they were so brilliant but when I woke up the next day and looked at the piece of paper the only thing I'd put on it was a picture of a christmas tree, some tits, and a flower.

LMAO ~~~~ very profound. :D

The only "hallucinogen" I indulge in is alcohol (and the more the better lol)

The only revelations I've had while drunk are your typical drunk stuff...Idiocies.

Never got any of the "profound relevations" from LSD. I mean, there was one time I was in a fast food restaurant, and the french fried took on a distinctly green twinge,a nd started to crawl out of the bag to attack me. I decided to deal with the situation by quitely eating them.

Maybe because I was such a twisted fuck before I did any LSD.

No, I don't still do that. Haven't done any for about 20 years.

The only time I hallucinated was after not sleeping for about 36 hours and driving all day under a hot sun with no A/C. I used a rest area and saw my car rolling away. I blinked and then saw it hadn't moved at all.

OzKristin 11-18-2004 08:15 PM

no drugs for me, but lack of sleep, overworking etc. has been known to do some crazy things to my mind :p

LixyChick 11-18-2004 10:09 PM

Alright...ok...so I did it all (with the exception of heroin...never did, never will do!). Windowpane, Purple Haze, Blotter, Mushrooms...you name the hallucinogen (BTW...unless you smoke buckets of it...pot isn't a hallucinogen), I did it!

I laughed till my inerds were killing me...I saw colors that artists dream of...things morphed into other things (I'm sure the guys who made the robots that changed into trucks were on hallucinogens at some point in their lives!)...I risked my saftey for the chance to say I played chicken with a train...but I NEVER, EVER, found the meaning to it all! If I did have an epiphany...it was bullshit when I finally came down. You've heard of people walking off of rooftops while high on L.S.D? Yep...I've heard about them too, but never knew anyone who actually did it. If it's true, then they were at the point where they thought they knew "it" all, and didn't wait till the feeling passed to realize how incredibly stupid it actually was! Some people are sheep...and some are herders. I think the sheep fall!

There has only been one time in my life when I have had incredible insight...and I was stone cold sober and asleep when it occured! When I awoke and reviewed my memories...they melted away, with just the questions left...again...to ponder!

I know I must have lost a lot of brain cells in my experimentations in my youth...but I feel no loss for the wear...except for this goddamn twitch I get whenever I orgasm! *WEG*
