Moooooooooooooon Me!
Tonight there will be a lunar eclipse. They say it will look like a giant pumpkin in the sky. Anybody going to try and get pics?
|
to see where it will be visible:
http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/im...28_nasa_big.gif and from their web site (http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/): Explanation: Go outside tonight and see the total lunar eclipse. Tonight's eclipse is easy and convenient for much of the world to see. Anyone who can spot a full Moon -- even during the day -- can see it fade out as the Earth's shadow engulfs it. No protective glasses or expensive telescopes are needed, just a little moxie. The above illustration shows how the eclipse will appear across the Earth. The total lunar eclipse starts at 9:14 pm Eastern Daylight Time, equivalent to 1:14 am UT in the morning for sky enthusiasts in the United Kingdom. From the moment the first part of the Moon disappears to the moment that the last part of the Moon reappears will be 3 hours and 40 minutes. For those unfortunate enough to suffer clouds, the eclipse can also be followed over several live webcasts. |

Come to my house...we're having it much earlier. :D |
I'm definitely going to be looking...and hope to get some pics, but it's awfully overcast today and probably won't let up by tonight. :( Got my fingers crossed.
|
forcast is for it to be overcast, darn it.
|
Drizzle & fog here too. :(
But, I do understand that if you are watching the World Series they are planning on aiming a camera at the sky.. not like the real thing, but should be interresting anyway. |
we've been watching but i couldn't get a good pic. the camera just makes it look like a golf ball, doesn't pick up any of the colors or shadows.

;) i somehow dont think ida been concentrating on the elcipse!!!!!! ;) :boobs: |
It was a lovely view from my house. Turned orange and looked like a giant pumpkin in the sky. Made me wonder what people a zillion years ago used to think when it happened.
|
I totally lucked out. The sky didn't start to cloud over until the moon was almost fully revealed again. What a night, huh? Sitting on a lounge chair in the middle of the back yard in my flannel jammie pants & slippers, under a blankie with my thermos of steaming Irish coffee.....
with Mrs. WI hollering the score out the window! :D And I think a zillion years ago, people were jumping off cliffs during eclipses. Personally, I'd rather be half naked and drinking coffee. ha ha |
Did anyone get pics? Or know where to see them online?
Too cloudy at my house!!!! I'm so bummed!!! |
I have some pics, some with a digital cam and some with a 35mm... and I wasn't able to get the digi pics here today and the film needs to be developed. I hope to have at least the digi pics here soon.
We had a beautiful view of it last night at my house... it was awesome! |
