Bob Bemer, who developed the ASCII coding system to standardize the way computers represent letters and numbers, marks died at his home near Dallas on Tuesday.
He was also one of the earlier people bring the Y2K issue to the attention of the world. |

He also is responsible for the "ESC" key on your keyboard... I find it odd that such a contributor to the electronic world was little known (or at least I hadn't a clue about him until I saw this on the news last night).
