Ray Charles passed away.....what's your fave song he sang?

LarryL 06-10-2004 03:44 PM

Gotta be "Georgia on My Mind."

Aqua 06-10-2004 04:20 PM

He was gospel, he was blues, he was jazz, he was soul... he was all about making music and he will be missed by many.

I really liked his duet with Billy Joel... Baby Grand.

WildIrish 06-10-2004 04:22 PM

Always loved "Night Time Is The Right Time"...sad to hear of his passing.

jseal 06-10-2004 05:26 PM

Lilith,

I enjoyed "I Can't Stop Loving You".

TinTennessee 06-10-2004 05:34 PM

Jseal, that would also have to be one of my favs. We have lost a wonderfully talented man.

Oh, like which is my favorite noodle in a spaghetti dinner?...he was Midas, all he touched turned to gold...

(I was gonna quote here from the end of "What'd I Say", but it looks kinda stupid when ya type it out...just listen along in your mind to Ray & the Rayettes doing the old "call & response" thing...)

His son told the story of how he insisted on driving the new Corvette he had just bought...he wrecked it, of course, but then sat quietly by while Jr. tried to convince the cops that it was his poor ol' blind daddy, not himself, that was at the wheel...

(Thanks Scotzoid. You know he was MY man:cool: )

Mr. Charles caught me by surprise with this one. I had to come here to find out. :(

Nothing but spaghetti on my plate too, but one of my favorite favors has to be Born To Lose.

BIGbad 06-10-2004 09:59 PM

Do you think he saw it coming?

Sorry I couldn't resist. :)

:spank::spank: Oh No you didn't :spank::spank:

PantyFanatic 06-10-2004 10:05 PM

LOL :)

Perhaps that's why he gave me his cuestick.

PantyFanatic 06-10-2004 10:06 PM

Ray had a sharp sense of humor too. ;)

Sugarsprinkles 06-10-2004 11:23 PM

Almost impossible to choose a favorite......But I always have enjoyed his duet with Willie Nelson "Seven Spanish Angels." And his version of "America the Beautiful" was always impressive.

And don't forget his great comedic acting spot in "The Blues Brothers" movie.

LixyChick 06-11-2004 04:23 AM

I'll miss this American icon! He was a legend while he lived...what would you call "beyond legend"...now that he is gone?

I'm with Booger on "Hit the Road, Jack"...and I did love his rendition of "America The Beautiful"...it gives me goose bumps to hear it! No matter what he sang/played...he put his whole heart into it each and every time!

R.I.P Ray..................*sigh*
