Ever thought about....

PM'ing a lurker to say...."saw you peekin', hope you liked what you saw:D "

I've been tempted a few times, but haven't found the courage yet..LOL!

Sharni 05-28-2004 04:29 PM

*LOL*...yep have done that

Go for it.....you could find a person who could become a good friend (or more :) )....i say go for it

Gilly 05-28-2004 04:32 PM

Haven't really thought about it, I don't think. I have gotten PM's from lurkers before, though. Usually lurkers who frequent the picture threads.

Lilith 05-28-2004 04:49 PM

LOL I was gonna start a PM a Lurker thread once encouraging people to do it but a certain AQUAtic member, who shall remain nameless, :p, talked me out of it. I have done it when i saw someone pouring through all my pic threads, asking them if they were insane yet.

LixyChick 05-28-2004 04:51 PM

I have thought about it...but I wouldn't want to be responsible for scaring anyone away! Not that it would happen...just that if it did I would hate knowing it was my fault. They lurk for a reason...though I can't figure it out...and so I say Que Sera <sp?>!

That is exactly why I haven't done it!!!!! But it is still tempting!

Sharni~ thanks for the words of encouragement, but like Lixy said I would hate to scare them off. Maybe one day when I catch someone going through all my threads, like Lil did I will.

Gilly~ I have had the same thing, funny that they will respond in a PM, but not want to post! I guess they really want to remain anonymous! Oh well as Lixy said "Que sera, sera"

huntersgirl 05-28-2004 05:02 PM

btw, Lilith~ why did the certain AQUAtic member not think it was a good idea? Or maybe I should just use my "psycho" abilities and figure it out...lol

Lilith 05-28-2004 05:07 PM

Oh cause..like someone said...peep are lurkers for a reason.

davidlovesit 05-28-2004 05:08 PM

I guess I could be considered a lurker, since I don't post too often. I had someone send me a message, saying they saw me lurking and wanted to welcome me. Of course it was a couple weeks before I even noticed I had a message. Messages were not what I was looking for. She was very sweet about it. In fact, I think it might have been her message that moved me to post.

I must say now I am here for the conversations you all have...well and the pictures too. I love this place!

I used to PM new lurkers welcoming them to Pixies but I it gave up after a time.

RE Lurkers lurking for a reason.

I disagree with the not Pmming lurkers

If you PM (politely) them and get no response then yep they are probably not interested in chatting (or dont know how the PM feature works)

They maybe just shy of posting openly and may appreciate someone dropping them a welcome note....which may eventually lead to them becomming a poster

True lurkers would not have the feature on...thats my take on the whole thing

If people dont want PM's then they shouldn't have the bloody feature operational...simple as that

Lilith 05-28-2004 05:39 PM

I agree!!!! I think often someone just needs encouragement to feel welcome.

wyndhy 05-28-2004 10:05 PM

<-----would not know a "lurker" if one sat on her face.

how can you tell they are a lurker if they don't post? if they make themselves visible, how are they lurking? i'm serious here, HOW can you tell?

<-----runs from the room before anyone can tell her she's MORE of a blond than Gilly. :D

I'm guessing it's noticing names in the "Who's Online" feature?

How do you know when someone is going through your threads?
