Eliza...really cool...
I LOVE pumpkins...and your picture brought back great memories of the fall to me. Thanks! |
All I can think of is how many delicious seeds are in those pretty pumpkins. Roasted pumpkin seeds are one of my fave things in the world! Beautiful pics!
|
Already picked a pumpkin from the pic....to carve that classic "Frankenstein's monster"! (3rd row....third in from the right)........Perfecto!
TY so much for sharing your harvest Eliza! And......that wooly worm looks to be telling us we've a strange winter ahead! Kiss him's wittle head for me......it's lucky (and prickly)! |
Happy Halloween and thanks for the pics!

Hey.......... that's Peter Peter the pumpkin eater!!!!!:) |
Eliza,
The pumpkins look terrific. Where I live there are a lot of pumpkins grown. In fact a pretty good chunk of all the pumpkin pie filling you see in the stores is grown and canned here. Amazing that from early September through the end of October, the canning plant runs day and night seven days a week with huge semi's unloading the crop onto conveyors to be processed. Thanks for the pictures of your neck of the woods. I think it's neat to see where others are from. Makes us all more like family. :D |
Goodness! Are the all destined to be carved into jackolanterns? Or are you gonna cook some of those darlings.

Your woollybear caterpillar looks like you’ll have a mild winter Eliza.;)
A local TV weatherman has been doing a hokey, but fun, free family festival type day, based on the forecasting attributes of that critter for the past 30 years. It draws over 100,000 people and 30 local high school bands now to a town just west of Cleveland. It has become part of the local culture. Quote:
Your fellows look like they may be ready for some competition. Bring them on up. I’d love to be off to the races with you.;) |
very nice will you make me some pumkin pie

As far as I can tell PF....no woollybear has ever predicted the winter severity or mildness correctly! Least ways...not around here....unless these folks can't really "read" a woollybear! LOL! Now...in February.....we have Punxatawny Phil (from Punxatawny, Pa.)......an old an wise (lmao) groundhog.....(I call him a woodchuck just to piss him off)......who comes out of hiding on February 2nd and we all gather round to peek at his............................................... .shadow! I was gonna say shadow! Get your mind outta the gutter....geesh! If he has a shadow..........6 more weeks of winter! Oh wait....is it, if he has a shadow spring will come soon? Hmmmm? Oh shit....I forget.....nevermind! |
Lilith---I don't know what your taste preferance is,when it comes
to pumpkin seeds.Every Halloween,when I carve,a pumpkin(with four grandchildren,that's alot)my wife takes the seeds,that were inside&spreads them on a large cookie sheet.She uses,oil or butter,I don't know which,lightly salts them & bakes them in the oven.The resulting snack,is delicious!(Much better then the bought,packaged ones!)
