i think 'speed reading' just takes what we do one step further, and instead of reading the whole word, you start to read the whole sentence, and eventually paragraphs.

Nope you just need to be able to infer. Any one can decode anyway they want as long as they come to the same conclusion as the author intended. Spelling correctly just makes that easier. People who are spelling nazi's kill kids self esteem and stifle their creativity, when kids are beginning to write. I believe this applies to adults as well. You will never see me correct another adults spelling not as long as I can decode it.
