Some months ago I saw a television show that made mention of a queen or princess who loved her horses to extreme. She had her servants make a hoist of some fashion to lower her stud down on her for sex. So it is said she was killed when the hoist broke and her stud crushed her. Well a group of us were talking about oddities at work last week and I told about this lady. Several of my buddies seem to think I made it up. I'm sure some of you here are familiar with this tale and might could put me on the info to research it enough to prove the point. I don't usually go all out for such proof but this sort of put me on the spot. Any history buffs here?

I believe that was Catherine the Great of Russia, but that story has been pretty comprehensively debunked as a myth. She died suffering a stroke on the toilet, and the bestiality was a rumor spread by enemies of Russia who seized on her apparent "promiscuity".

I learned when I took my ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) course that one reason so many people with heart problems die on the toilet is because when you strain during a BM it slows your heart, sometimes too much.
Another is because people often retreat to the toilet when they feel bad, but not sure why. Sometimes a heart attack doesn't involve chest pain, but a feeling of being "unwell" and nausea.

The story sounds like a load of road apples to me too. It would have been much easier to take the Czarina to the mountain that the mountain to the Czarina even if she was into riding the wrong side of her horse.

I appreciate the responses but oddly enough I saw this mentioned on a PBS show. It was a pretty fascinating program about pornography through the ages. I'd looked at Catherine the Great as a possibility earlier and saw nothing of this. I want to say Elizabeth was the moniker I'd heard. Oh well, it may just be another case of senility in action.

Well damn, another look at the right place and I found it. Yep Belial you were right. I just hadn't looked in the right place. The story was blamed on French journalists who started that rumor just after her death. Thanks :-)
