One mans trash is anothers treasure!
My father,THOUGHT that he was a coin collector! He was an amateur collector. When he died, years ago,my mother gave his coins to me.The other day,I cleaned out a closet and found them.
I am not going to spend the money for a private box and if I put the money in the bank,I won't get the same coins back.I'm sure that there isn't anything that valuable there, because knowing how,my father, was hurting for money,it would be gone!I have, NO interest,in collecting coins.I have other hobbies, and don't need another.I'm not going to inspect them all,so if anyone has anything, special, that they're looking for.Let me know.Otherwise, they go back in the closet, taking up room!If you need anything, send me the denomination, date, and any other pertanent data& I'll see if it's there and let you know! I would just be careful......... one of them nickles "could" possibly be worth at least $20 to the right collector....
If I understand right about your age...... and possibly your father's age.... you may have something of value there... If you don't want them, take them to a charity and have that charity check them out.... just a thought |

Cheyanne---A few years ago,my wife,took them to a shop&
had them appraised. They, don't tie up money, unless they can get it back, quickly. They didn't offer to buy anything,so I'm making the assumption, that theres no great value there.Plus, it costs to get things appraised.People assume that it's a free service! It's not.I could go thru E-bay or something, but I'm just not interested in getting involved.I just thought that I might be able to help someone out, that was interested! PF.My SS# isn't 2,it's 1. Irish P.S.I saved some old used motorcycle parts over the years. EX:If a customer, wanted new tires&their old ones were fine,I saved them.If they wanted new electrical or carb. parts, and the old ones were still good,I saved them.Plus I had three(spare) racing engines. When I closed my shop,I sold the engines, separately,I also sold a motorcycle, that I built(Blacked-out)to irritate, the cops, into chasing me!(juvenile)(They never caught me!)The parts alone sold for $700. |
Maybe you should put that on your list for next winter when you have to throw the bread crumbs UP from your window to feed the birds.
Get a cheap (because I know how you are ;) ) coin book and go through them yourself. Then you could add "numismatist" to that long list of things that people call you. :D |
PF's right about the coin book, or see if any libraries in the area have a recent edition. It doesn't have to be THIS year's, as they rarely change value from year to year, except for certain VERY rare coins.

Irish is up in New Hampshirrrrrrrrrre dadaist. Didn’t you read about their library burning down.
YEP! Completely destroyed both books.:( One of them wasn’t even colored in yet. |
Very funny. It's been a while since I've bought such books for myself, but I know that it's really only my proof coins that have/accumulate any value. I don't know if anyone keeps websites or not.

I'm not from NH,my wife is!I met her,in the 1960s,when my
home base was Pease. It was a SAC base, then, now it is Air National Guard+a regular civilian areport. It is now known as the Pease Tradeport.I moved back to Conn.,after the service and worked at Sikorsky Aircraft for 6yrs.The money was MUCH better in Conn but you couldn't pay me to move back. Irish P.S.Thanks for the advice, but I'm just not into coins. There's nothing wrong with it but it's just not my thing! Different strokes, for different folks! P.P.S.Alot of the things, that I used to do,I don't do anymore, because they were just an excuse for me to drink!Right now, the most important thing to me(personally),is not to drink. The people that I respect the most, are people that don't let anything run their lives!
