Tornado Damage

The following website has pictures of the damage done by tornados that passed near Peoria a week ago. The towns shown are South Pekin and Morton. (Morton pictures are those of a lake with surrounding apartments).

Well over a hundred homes were destroyed and, thank God, no lives were lost and only three were injured.

What is it with tornados these days????
Just the other day a tornado swept out of nowhere and caused an estimated AUD$1 million worth of damage (no deaths either) in a town about 100kms from the capital city in Victoria, Australia - Melbourne. This is in an area that hasn't had a tornado in my living memory - in the South end of Australia they're really very rare (tornados, not towns).

Pretty bizarre I think!

Prayers to those victims who have to rebuilt their homes and lifes in all these places.

Pictures dont do tornadoes justice. It is amazing how it can total a motel 6, but leave the motel 8 standing next door with just some sratches in the paint...

One of those destroyed apartments pictures was where one of my sons lived until about 5 years ago. Thank heavens he moved.

One of our friends homes had the roof torn off. He was telling us how he'd come upstairs after the threat was past and for a minute, thought all was okay. That's when water collected on his ceiling broke through and revealed the open sky.

Really frightening.

For some reason,my wife,is fascinated with watching tornadoes. If
there's a show on TV,about them,she always watches it.I leave the room!To me,basically,if you've seen one,you've seen them all!
Plus,I hate to see someones LIFE work&memories get destroyed!
I could never understand why the people that have things destroyed, year after year,by floods, forest fires, landslides, etc, keep
rebuilding in the same spot and expect the taxpayers,to keep
footing the bill.Once or twice,I can understand, but I'm talking about many times. If beachfront homes get destroyed, everytime
there's a hurricane,they'll keep rebuilding,if everyone else keeps
paying.SORRY--Personal Peeve. Irish
