St. Valentine Gift Ideas......

iTriedSoHard... I know you'll read this anyway... but please act surprised ok? LOL....

Okay.... I need some advice.... I want to get iTriedSoHard something for Valentine's day... but don't have much clue as to what... I know chocolates and flowers are good... but I have to send them VIA mail... (in the case of flowers I COULD order them online IF I had a Checking account or a Credit Card)... but I also want to send her something special... I am planning on sending her a letter (a few days early of course just to make sure it arrives on time)... and maybe something in the letter... or... I don't know... I could get a whole seperate package and mail her some sexy lingerie or maybe some jewelry... I am gonna ask her what she would like of course... but I might get her something special anyway (;))... but I just need some Ideas.... I don't know much about shopping... and stuff.. and it will be VERY awkward for me to go into a lingerie store or something.... so anyone have any suggestions/ideas/help?

Dammit post her something SPECIAL!!!

EVERYONE gives flowers or chocolates or lingerie on Valentines...... be original! Take a chance! Be UNIQUE to her!

What does she like especially? What's a present that would make her feel really special, instead of "yet another Valentine".

Don't be boring! The world's full of boring people!

Just my opinion :)

Doomsday, I agree with Casper.

I'm sure during all your conversations, she has mentioned something special to her. Like a favorite hobby, person, place, thing, musician... something distinctive to HER.

Flowers die, chocolate puts on the pounds. Forget that stuff.

Jewelry which has a special meaning between you is a much better choice. Doesn't have to be from Sach's 5th Avenue either(although if you can find a box with that on it, it will be a plus...)

The bottom line is give her something that shows you were listening and is special to HER.

Believe me, I have enough ex's in my wake to know what not to do, so learn from my mistakes.

Hope you two have a great Valentines.

You must be kidding!

Thanks but we talk about so much... her favorite person is me and/or her son... We talk about so many bands... I don't know which is her favorite... I mean she likes Micheal Bolton and Erci Clapton... but also likes more modern music too... as far as jewelry goes... well... there are something... I want to get her... but it will wait.... I will try though... thanks.... I just want to get her something she'll like... I know it doesn't really matter... because she loves me... but... I just have so much I want to give her.... ughh... I have time I'll think of something... I appreciate the comments...

I am hoping for a pearl necklace this year:p;)

Casperr 01-27-2003 04:39 AM

ROTFLMAO @ Lilith!!!!

Doomsday, we don't know her nearly as well as you obviously do, so we're not much help in being specific.
Just find something that suits her, that she'll appreciate and something that will mean something to her. Bear in mind that whatever you give her will have huge significance to her purely BECAUSE you gave it to her.

And you don't necessarily have to get her the greatest present ever - although I bet you feel like that's exactly what you want to give her. Quite often, the simpler presents are more appreciated than the lavish or expensive ones.

So, good luck Doomsday - tell us all what you got her (AFTER you've given them to her - don't wanna ruin the surprise!) or better yet, get her to tell us what she got and how much she loved it..... as I'm sure she will!

Its not the money thats spent on a gift, but the thought that goes into it.Flowers, candy, jewelry are way overdone but then Valentines Day is so commercial. If you two talk much on the phone how about a calling card?? I take it you haven't met in person yet so maybe a few long conversations will help you get to know each other better and its always nice to hear the voice of the person you care about:)

Irish 01-27-2003 02:13 PM

Like BSBDD said,it's the thought that counts!
Flowers---Way over priced, plus they are already dead, unless you
get her a growing plant.
Candy---Forget it.Women are always trying to lose weight.Trust me,I have a wife&two daughters.Thy don't want anything fattening plus they are empty calories.
Jewelry---Waste of money unless there is something that she desires.Ex:Can you tell if someone has diamond earrings on or
just a rhinestone?Some can but most can't!
It ruins the suprise but my wife&I have decided that if we want
something during the year.We just buy it.It's better then buying a present just for the sake of buying a present. With the price of greeting cards now,we have also decided to forego them, unless
they say what we want said!Sounds boring but makes sense monetarily! Irish

BIBI 01-27-2003 05:52 PM

You know what? Some of the presents I have received throughout the years have been absolutely beautiful.......but I hold dear to my heart words that have been written for me by someone special. A card can be tucked away for years and years, always there to look at and hold and to remember someone by. I think a nice card filled with sincerity outshines the brightest diamond.....but then I am past the material aspects of a relationship(due to impending old age lol) and so I am easy to please......

So... how about this?

I shall pm you with my gift suggestion! :p

Irish 01-27-2003 07:45 PM

BIBI---I still have a card, from years ago, sent by my youngest
daughter!Every year I ,still, give each of my daughters, a candy,
Valentine Heart, just from me.It says,Thanks Dad,When everything seems to be going badly,I always know that you are
there for me.Little things like that mean alot to me.My kids, may be
grown but they're still MY kids! Irish

BIBI 01-27-2003 09:00 PM

Irish,

I have kept every card.....from those I cared about.

Since being 16. So many wonderful memories.

Saraphin 01-28-2003 12:06 PM

Last valentines day i got a coffee maker! --- when i moved out a while later. i took it with me /snickers =)

txgrneyes 01-28-2003 11:59 PM

My suggestion is send her a picture of yourself with a bow tie on both heads...caption is "when you care enough to send the very best" (borrowed from Hallmark). If nothing else it will put a smile on her face.
