The draft
What does everyone think about Sen. Rangle putting his bid in to re-introduce the draft in Congress.??
|
I have no feelings in the matter.Like anything else,it has its Pros&
Cons.I enlisted at 17,after HS graduation,so I never dealt with the draft.I signed up at 21,just to make things legal. The woman, at the draft board signup, started to chew me out ,for not signing up at 18.I showed her a card that said that I had served honorably for four(4)yrs.She, immediately, shut up! I have no problem with the draft... tho I would be a bit interested to see how/IF they would include women this go round.
I served in the Military and strongly believe that it is not only a very good option for young adults.. but in many cases I think their should be some form of requirement to do so (if not join the military then complete a certain amount of time serving your community specifically). It is my hope that my son will choose to go the college route when he becomes a young man.. if not.. I will HIGHLY urge him to join the military.... |
Ok, i believe there should be a mandatory service for all men..but that is just my opinion...BUTTTTTT
Sen. Rangle is a veteran, but he is introducing this bill because he is now a dove, and thinks by passing this bill it will get more people that will avoid the draft. But that aside he is doing an evil thing with this and his position. |

Look over there -------------->
It's not me saying this out loud.
I totally agree with Jenna! |
ROFL...
PF.. I get the sense that it causes you great pain to admit that.. LOL.. would rather think that agreeing with me would cause you an erection :) |
well, I was watching CNN night before last and Rumsfeld (sp?) dismissed the bid saying that the present condition of the Armed Services in the United States is fine.
|
Maybe if we paid our enlisted men and women in uniform a decent living there would be more people wanting to enlist during peacetime which would give us more reserves ( automatic for a time after they get out) and no need to think draft.
|
the draft is wrong whats the point of fighting for freedom if
you dont have any the first time they draft some one the gov would end up in court for human right violations |
I know i'm not in your country...but i still believe drafting ppl into the armed forces is a good idea...
The amount of unemployment(in OZ) and because of that kids have too much damn time on their hand often resulting in them getting into some pretty bad habits.....the armed forces would train them, thus giving them a trade to use through life, plus get them off the streets. Just my 5c worth |
The USA is lucky it has a decent budget to have a military. Our Canadian soldiers end up going to Afganistan with green uniforms because they sold our desert browns to a surplus outfit. Then they turn around and buy them back from the surplus at triple the cost. I don't know if the draft is needed b3ecause you do not need as much manpower then you did in WWII. High tech weapons eliminates the need for as amny ground forces.

I'm with Jenna,I to was in the military and think that these kids sure get something to give them respect for others. It would help with a skill also. I know the pay isn't the same as dealing drugs or robbing stores but they would be out on there own.

I think the draft is probably a good idea...
I particularly agree with his reasoning. axe31 has a point, though. Perhaps those totally against it could serve stateside -maybe at a desk job. I was in the Army for a while and it made a BIG difference in my maturity level. oh, BTW... WAR SUCKS !!!!! |
