New Years Plans
What are you doing for New Year's Eve/Day?
Do you have traditions or superstitions that you partake in to ensure a successful new year? Here it is customary to eat black-eyed peas.........everyone at my house has to eat at least one:p |
Yeh, we'll eat blackeye peas with hamhock...not sure why, something to do with luck...maybe I need to NOT eat em to change my luck...funny, I used to love em when I was a kid, now they taste like soggy cardboard :P
|
We have a tradition of getting together with two couples (we've been doing it for more than 30 years). This year the two couples (plus us) will be going to our oldest daughter's home in Peoria to great the new year.
Usually lots of food, some games involving everyone including the kids, and, maybe a little bit of liquid refreshment (especially for the New Year's Toast). Hope all of you have a great New Years whether there's an ol' tradition or whether you're just starting a new one. :D |
We usually rent movies for a family night and eat junk. Each kid (4) will pick out a movie and we watch all of them until around 11:00. By then they are usually tired and ready to go to bed leaving hubby and I alone.
Our tradition is to make love before midnight - for the last time that year. Then, after midnight, we make love again - for the first time in the new year. |
I have to work yuck

Luck for the New Year!?!
1 Attachment(s)
The one night of the year that EVERY DJ works is NY eve. So I started the year by making a few $.;)
According to my German grandmother, it was suppose to assure prosperity if you walked around the house right after midnight with a pot of sauerkraut. Somebody else in the family started doing this every year after the night my dad found this 74 year old (arthritic) lady in knee deep snow, with house slippers and a can of Snowfloss kraut, (wrapped in a dish towel so we would hear her when she snuck out) trying to climb the fence that separated the houses. Thinking back, I have to say that my way of bringing “luck” seems to have worked better. And I’m going to start the New Year by posting a “face with the pic”. Fuck the world! :p LMAO So however you obtain your good fortune, |

Oh yes...I remember that well. Black-eyed peas, good southern cornbread, beer, and college football. And, of course, the mandatory mid-afternoon nap. Good stuff! I actually did my celebrating last night... ;) Walking a bit stiffly this morning...:D rabbit |
HNY~Handsome!;)
and the blackeyed peas weren't so bad this year:p cause I washed them down with mudslides mixed with butterscotch schnapps ((((Oldfart was dead right about that drink, deadly, by the time you notice, you have already drank 834721987412987))))):D:D:p OHHHHHH!!!! and so far the Gators are winning:p for a change:o May be a lucky New Year!!!! |
HNY beautiful. Mudslides w/ butterscotch schnapps sounds positively yummy. I went for shots of frozen peppermint schnapps last night. That stuff always makes me happy.
:D rabbit |
As for the Gators...well...not everything can be perfect...
:p XOXO |
We tend to hold a NYE gaming party-lots of peeps still left over from last night.
Cool, I got to play a new card called "Nodwick", which involves the players each trying to assemble a body from various body parts represented by the cards. |
