War of the Worlds

Just got back from seeing this new movie. I'd give it about a C+. It was good, but not nearly as good as I hoped it would be. Special effects were not necessarily better than the '53 version except for the ray beams and how they destroyed their targets. Dakota Fanning, we thought, did a very good job in her role as the "little girl." In the 53', the hero was at least trying to "defeat the aliens." Tom Cruise was more involved in trying to run from them (to protect the girl to be sure), and so the end result was he was just another innocent victim of the alien attack more than a hero.

Between it and Independence Day ... the latter was, I thought, a much superior film. I'd go back and see Batman, Star Wars, Mr. & Mrs. Smith and Herbie ... but would probably wait on another view of WotW until it's on TV or at least out on DVD.

Don't want to mis-lead, though. Glad we saw it today. It was a good show. Just not quite up to expectations. :(

I was wondering if it was all it has been made out to be....I want to take the boys and I'm glad to hear your opinion. :)

NJ to Boston in the same set of clothes. Not even that dirty or sweaty. My

LOL, Irish. No, not sure, but if I find out ... I'll let you know. :D

Again, not to mislead anyone ... it's not a bad show and is worth seeing once. Just spoiled by my memories of the older version.

Maybe I was spoiled because Abe Lincoln and I got to see it together with George W ... er ... Washington, that is? :D

ROFL I don't know if I'll be able to watch it without waiting for them to change their clothes now! :D

It's not my type of movie but I saw some tough movie critics gave it five out of five stars.

Dicksbro---I was just kidding!I get Bill O'Riellys newsletter,& he reviewed the movie & asked that question.Theres something about a loudmouthed,outspoken,know-it-all,opinionated Irishman, that I can relate to.
