Bond! James Bond!

In honour of the fortieth anniversary, and twentieth appearance (not counting 'Casino Royale'), of everyone's favourite 'famous British secret agent, shaken, not stirred', we ask the ages-old question....

Who is your favourite 007?

Scarecrow 10-27-2002 10:50 AM

Sean Connery all the way. The only other decent Bond was Rooger Moore. Of course I saw Dr. No in the theater.

Steph 10-27-2002 01:17 PM

Definitely Roger Moore for me! He was so suave!

Sugarsprinkles 10-27-2002 02:01 PM

Although I love the Sean Connery of today, I was never that enthralled with him as James Bond. It almost seems as if that was an entirely different person than he is now. Roger Moore was pretty good. But I think Pierce Brosnan was born to play the part. I've thought he would make a perfect James Bond ever since he first appeared in Remington Steele.

GermanSteve 10-27-2002 02:18 PM

Sean Connery was very good, but the man in the white Lotus was the unbeatable Roger Moore...
I think I prefer R M because he was the one before S C. That is the face that was burnt into my brain.

dannyk 10-27-2002 02:25 PM

Actually GS, Connery came first. When he quit, the producers asked Moore, who was already a star in England for 'The Saint'.

GermanSteve 10-27-2002 02:31 PM

Oh... at least then he was the first one that I saw films of.

dicksbro 10-27-2002 02:42 PM

I guess Sean Connery will always be number one as James Bond in my book.

Casperr 10-28-2002 05:02 AM

I agree with Sugarsprinkles - Roger Moore was the greatest Bond ever.... until Pierce!! And yep, he was awesome in Remington Steele - perfect primer for being Bond!

Pierce Brosnan

legend 10-28-2002 07:10 AM

Roger Moore....without a doubt

Christine 10-28-2002 07:24 AM

It's a close race between Connery and Brosnan for me.

Saddaddy 10-28-2002 07:48 AM

It was close race between Roger Moore & Sean Connery as who was the best Bond ,But I would have to say that the best was Moore.

jjjjbo 10-28-2002 07:54 AM

I like Sean Connery best, but I think it has something to do with the accent more than the acting! :D

skipthisone 10-28-2002 09:05 AM

Just my opinion:

Sean Connery set the bar, Roger Moore stayed with it and was great as bond, Timothy Dalton almost uterlly destroyed the series by being horrid....Brosnon is as good as Connery, but if Connery would have had the technology that Brosnon has in the moview he would have been unbeatable as Bond.

Lovediva 10-28-2002 10:24 AM

It's a tie for me...Roger and Sean...they can put their "Stirred Martini's" under my bed anytime!! :D

Murphy 10-28-2002 06:37 PM

AWWWWW c'mon, I can't pick David Niven????? Gawd he was THE BEST Bond in THE BEST Bond Movie! Ian Flemming must be spinning in his grave for you eliminating that one from the running!

dannyk 10-29-2002 12:00 AM

Sorry, Murphy. I thought about it, but couldn't choose between Niven and Peter Sellers, so I left them out! And I think I should have left out Lazenby as well :D

Murphy 10-29-2002 07:20 AM

'sok Danny, I can see where that would be a tough choice.....Hmmm maybe another thread.....funniest secret (or not-so-secret) agent? Who would the choices be? Peter Sellers as Inspector Cleuso, of course, and Niven as Bond.....let's see, who else? Inspector Gadget? Jackie Chan? and lets not forget Eddie Murphy as "J" in "Men in Black"....just a thought.

dannyk 10-29-2002 08:15 AM

Murphy, Murphy, Murphy!
What are you on, dude? Eddie Murphy in Men In Black?? Don't you mean Will Smith? I understand, something about Eddie's name just distracts you.... :D

Murphy 10-29-2002 02:47 PM

must've been that stuff Twiztddreams was passing around the "Peace Rally" thread after we settled our differences....and yeah, there's just SOMETHING about Eddie that I just can't shake
LOL!

Irish 10-29-2002 03:02 PM

I don't even remember George Lazenby playing James Bond! That's not to good of an impression. Irish

dannyk 10-29-2002 11:04 PM

Lazenby was called in when Connery quit the first time, to do "On Her Majesty's Secret Service". One early scene has him coming across a woman being attacked on a beach. He proceeds to help, gets the tar beaten out of him, and when he recovers, looks straight at the camera, and dead-pans 'This never would have happened to the other guy!'
I kid you not! :p

BlondeCurlGirl 10-29-2002 11:24 PM

While Connery is definitely dashing as Bond, I have to agree with SugarSprinkles that Pierce Brosnan was born to play the part. He's just so smooth and sexy! Heck, if he continues to make Bond films, the younger generation of fans may end up thinking of Brosnan as the ultimate bond.

PantyFanatic 10-30-2002 01:09 AM

I started with From Russia With Love.

Like GermanSteve says, I was imprinted, by Sean. By the time the last bunch of them were stamped out, it seened that only Inspector Gadget was fit for the parts. It wasn’t only the actors that changed. So did James Bond.:(

Lorelei 10-30-2002 12:39 PM

No question, babe. It's Pierce Brosnan. He may not be the best acting Bond, but he sure as hell is the sexiest! :D

Oldfart 10-30-2002 12:51 PM

Dalton was the best Bond, truest to the Fleming character.

Connery was a lovable bumbler, Moore was a caracature and

Lazenby (an Aussie dammit) just didn't cut it.

Brosnan is an upmarket Moore.

Sellars/Niven were just out of this world.
