I just got my Satellite TV Guide for Aug.3/9 .They have a article on the 50 Greatest Cartoon characters of all time . The Experts at ACME Laboratories (specialist in focus groups & anvil dropping since1936) have compiled this defintive , indisputable & comletely arbitrary list.
I 'm not sure that some of these characters should be on the list & there are some that should be on the list . What do you think ?Where did your favorite characters end up on the list .

Gee, there are 8 on that list I never heard of:rolleyes:. I guess the list only includes animated cartoons. Even so, where’s Fogghorn Legghorn and Chilly Willy:confused:? And Yosemite Sam Where’s Yosemite Sam? He has to be on any cartoon list along with Taz. Just wait until grumbleguts sees this:mad:.

I’m so old I know how to read the paper:eek:. What happened to Beetle Bailey, Marmaduke and The Wizard of ID? (not going to mention Blondy & Dagwood or Nancy & Slugo or you’ll want to charge me over time on the planet):o

man, that list is sorely lacking...

- no Captain Caveman
- how about Snagglepus (exit, stage left even)
- Felix got holding the bag if he was that far down the list (get it?)
- where's Hong Kong Phooey...
- and who can forget Pixie, Dixie and Mr. Jinks - "I hates them meeces to pieces!"
- ahhh... they even did not list The Jetsons!
- and finally, Johhny Quest got left off... what young geek could grow up without Johnny Quest?

man... what were they thinking !?!?! :D

Elmer Fudd ,Foghorn Leghorn ,the Smurfs & Aquaman didn't even make the list . They were All great characters too! I'm not sure what they were thinking! Some of the characters I thought that should have been closer to the top of the list were at the bottom.

And the saddest of all…..

Looking at the list again....Gumby wasnt a cartoon character...He was a piece of friggin clay...badly done clay at that....

The people that made that list;must have been out of touch!I don't want to date myself;but most of my closest friends;were like

I agree with Irish, the people doing this list seem to be interested only in what is popular now, research boys, research.

All these top 50 things are sooo stupid, everyone is going to have a different opinion.

Haven’t heard of them for so long, I thought perhaps I’d only dreamed them:eek:, along with Little Abner.
Don’t want to hijack this thread as it obviously is only for cartoons:rolleyes:, not comics, BUT:D….(lol), I have to mention Rube Goldberg. I’ve been building to those designs all my life. :yellghst:

When I saw this list , I couldn't believe that so many of my Sat.Morning friends were not on the list . The rating they gave them were also wrong.Buggs should have been first but Mickey Mouse coming in at 19 ,Walt is turning over in his grave at that one.

Dudley Do-Right should be on the list too!!!!! :) I agree with Lil, Pepe Le Pew, the little stinker, should be on the list.

side note, on another site i use <gasp>, i had a french guy bothering me....he kept telling me he loved me after talking in video for 2 minutes. He used to catch me coming on so i logged invisible. i referred to him to my friends as Pepe...kind of an insult to the poor little skunk tho

Ok, they put a one-shot piece of tripe like Gerald McBoingBoing on the list, & dare to leave off the bestest-dumbest one-shot cartoon charactor of all time...Pete Puma, from a Bugs 'toon... "I got me a lil rabbit down in dis hole, 'n' I'm gonna catch 'im & eat im up...hhheeeeeyyyyyuuuuhhhhhh!"

This list has some serious problems. I mean for godsake they have Spongebob on there. And they are missing a bunch of the greats.
