Redhair.. The attraction.
 

Is it because they are only about 2% of the population? It is a mutant (as it were) color.

I mean what is our attaction to this color (for those that do)? I know reading around Im not the only one who does.

For those (like me) that have different hair colors.. take no offense to this thread. I just have an instant attraction to the way the hair interacts with their looks. It doesn't mean Im ignorant enough to go after someone purely for their hair color (though I wont deny this fetish).

Me personally when they have whiter skin.. something about how the red interacts with their face "grabs" me.

I just find it weird.

Is is something with our cones and rods? I heard red is the color we most see in human color preception.

Theories, reasons, experiences? Redhead perpectives are welcome too.. (Like do they hate their hair color because of the unwanted attention? ect.)

*Shrug* I don't know.. Hell my father was into blondes.. Did he ever get pissed when he found out my Mom was dying her hair 6 months after they were married. :eek:

I can rememeber always being embarrassed, trying to hide the fact that I had a lot of red in my hair. I used to dye it blonde or brown and kept it cut short-short. Not only was I cursed with auburn/ red hair but it was fairly curly as well. I thought it was horrible when all the pretty teens in magazines were blonde. I thougt that was the ideal. Now I wear my hair natural and long. I think I finally grew mature enough to realize that although it is not the norm, it can be an extreme turn on for some. Glad to hear others think so to. Well, my hair got darker, more an auburn, as I got older, in my later 20s, but it still is without a doubt RED. I also have green eyes, fair skin, and a light "dusting" of freckles. I tan well only if done carefully...
Until I started keeping myself bare, I ALWAYS heard the comment, " Oh, and you're a real redhead too" at a uh... *ahem* certain point in the relationship.
When I was younger,and 'cause I am so short, it worsened, the "pixie" and "leprechaun" comments.
The fact that I do have a temper, and am a very passionate, sexually aware woman, all character traits associated with redheads, hasn't helped.
But!!...
I do like being a redhead, like being a member of a club... I enjoy the extra attention, and have learned to enjoy the after-sex "firecracker" coments!!

I have been a brunette (natural), a blond, and a red head...pink too... and even blue.......lol...

But I have to say...the red head had the most FUN!! :D :D
So now I leen towards red hair dye.... 9 out of 10 times!


Just wished I was a natural Red Head....But not with green eyes...I'd keep my big browns!... :D

WW i guess it is a red head thing cause I blush intensely too. Hubby says he finds it sexy that I blush when he kisses me ...even after 15 years. :o

I too have a "thing" for red hair. (Not to mention what it does to my thing!)LOL My wife has redish-blond hair and very fair skin. (she also has the map of Ireland on her face) Funny thing is, her bush is more red than blond. I guess I have the best of both worlds!;)

I have found that all my lovers have been red heads they are among the hottest :p

I wont claim to know genetics.. but why is this.. I wont say stereotype, but maybe assumption about redheads being more independent/greater libido/intelligence?

Is it like the Napolean complex where smaller people tend to be over achievers? Since they (redheads) were different in school and thus made fun of, but when their peers became sexual active, attention started to surround them??? I know, I know, this is all juvenile wannabe psychology.

I have to say.. both redheads I knew had a tendency to follow one or the other above, but both had these traits in them (the second one especially with independent.. she broke my heart :( ). Maybe that's why Im am attracted to them also. So far I havent met a redhead (woman) that lacks these traits.

I hope we don't get slammed for this, but... here goes... I'll try to keep this as short as possible; being a redhead myself, I always thought there was some genetic baggage that seems to ride along with the obvious physical traits; let's just say my personal experience tells me this could be true. Naturally, there's always the arguement of nature vs. nuture, but I know what I've seen. Sixsense has kind to us in his assessments, what he calls independence some call stubborn, libido/sex-crazed, & intelligence/smartassed! :rolleyes:
Just to keep this thread going, we've heard what the guys think about redheaded women, what do the ladies think about redheaded men?

Count me in on the Red head fan club.

Being honest I dont believe that I have seen a truly ugly red headed woman.

And I've seen some women blonde or brunette woman that just plain gave me the "willies".. ewwwwww.

Well, this is merely my .02 but this is my theory...
in the wild, if you look at the birds and the bees.... (heheh) the bees go to the bright red flowers more often for pollenation (sp?) Red is a recessive gene I believe and that makes it very rare therefore it is an oddity to see it. the brightness of the colour is very eye catching so you see it better terefore men "pollinate" red heads with fervor?

oh and I've only been with one redheaded man and well at the time I didnt like to get on top but I had to because he had NO CLUE how to use his dick.... but he was well-endowed......

My father is full Norweigan but my mother was many things including (but not limited to) irish,german,english,indian,and swedish. So even though her hair was pure black and she had bright green eyes, I got the genes with the red hair, but my Dad was a toe head so wherever the sun touches my hair it turns white blonde, it makes for some interesting colors. I also got his darling blue eyes. Maybe because I've fought to hide them for so long, I'm not a fan of tons of freckles, too many people made fun of them for so long, I just prefer to wear sunblock so my complexion stays farely even. But it only takes one full hour in the sun, through a window even and all the freckles come out again!

You know the whole temper thing just isn't true. I'm vendictive, I have a temper, but when I'm angry the last thing I do is throw a tantrum or even raise my voice, it scares my husband and annoys my best friend, she's a screamer, and now my husband is afraid if we have a little girl, she's gonna be a redhead with HIS temper!

I have been with a red headed man, he was very self assured (probably from the attention of his hair) and oh so cute...but not anything different in bed.

I think if you believe your beautifull because of your red hair and not that it's a curse then maybe you get the self assured trait. Hell I don't know. I've seen all sorts of beautifull men and women with all sorts of hair colors and skin colors for that matter. But I do know that if asked my best feature, I allways answer my hair. And if I go bald...well then it will be my mind!

Allthough I do think maybe red heads are all crazy...I know I am.:D

Although I'm not a natural red head (I'm actually a blonde) you couldnt tell it from my skin tone, I'm very pale and my nether region hair has red tones so I can pull off the red hair as well as several shades of blonde which drived my stylist completely nuts, she hates it that I can pullit off heheh...

And as for the temper, I'm a bit violent but I feel that it's teenangst and I'll grow outta it, never hit a person but dented lockers in high school, punched through walls, and messed up knuckles on brick walls..... after my mother hit me one day though I just lost it, blanked out saw red and didnt realize what was going on until I had almost put my fist to her jaw... managed to bring my hand down and to the side enough to just graze her shoulder.... no more problems like that tho afterwards

Would just like to say that i am having THE BEST TIME being red headed!!! I am blond naturally, but i just had a feeling that red was MY colour, the colour that i should have been instead of blond, because i have pale skin, a dusting of freckles across my nose, and bright baby blues! I also have a little temper too ;)

My first boyfriend was redheaded, he was sooooo cute, but we broke up after he moved to a different school, now that we're all grown up i see him now and again, and he is still cute.

So to sum up both questions, I think that redheaded men are sexy, and BEING redheaded, makes ME feel sexier!!!

If any of the ladies need a true redhead male test subject, I'll be here, trying to contain my temper ;)

Well, naturally I have white blonde hair and super white skin--in fact, I've been asked if I was albino. I get hit on a lot, but never as much as when I dyed my hair red for a year. Everyone thought it was natural, and asked why I had bleached my hair for so long. The men loved it!!! However, my love nowadays really loves blondes and gets very cranky if I even mention going red again--so I think maybe it all is personal preference--I like men with black hair. So you'll probably find equal amount of people who like each color.
