Just slap it on the grill

I'm trying to sort out a meal for what is expected to be a very soggy 4th. We will probably not even get to bbq. So let me live vicariously through you.

What do you like to slap on the grill? Do you like to rub it? ;) Or do you like it sloppy and wet where you get to lick your fingers a lot?

Oldfart 07-03-2013 08:49 AM

Is that three different questions?

WildIrish 07-03-2013 10:18 AM

I'll probably grill burgers for most of us and either a veggie burger or some tofu dogs for my non-carnivore.

Lilith 07-03-2013 12:50 PM

Suggestion for your burgers- goat cheese and hot pepper jelly

Lord Snow 07-03-2013 01:09 PM

My dad takes a pork tenderloin and marinates it before putting it on the grill.

Lilith 07-03-2013 01:44 PM

mmmmmmmmmm that would be good sliced with some goat cheese and hot pepper jelly

gekkogecko 07-03-2013 02:09 PM

I'm thinking of a light branding for a submissive...does that count?

OK, maybe not for real. But I can always threaten.

You seem to have a slight obsession with goat cheese and hot pepper jelly. Do you we need to form a support group for you?

Pita 07-03-2013 02:28 PM

I will join your support group Lil! You bring the goat cheese and I will bring my girlfriends insanely tasty hot pepper jelly. I use hot pepper jelly and tomato paste as a glaze for my meatloaf. Soooo good!

We are waiting for the rain to hit and last through tomorrow, so of course being a furniture saleslady I will be working and hoping that with all the rain and fireworks cancelled the good people will console themselves with a new sofa. :D

Today, we are having hamburgers (cooked on my grill pan), coleslaw, and baked beans.

Oh and I like mine sloppy and finger lickin' good!

Better that than hot pepper cheese and goat jelly, I suppose. :p

Lord Snow 07-03-2013 08:32 PM

I should have figured you'd be the one to come up with the idea to use Mint (KY) Jelly on your goat. LOL

Oldfart 07-04-2013 04:29 AM

Do they grow mint in Kentucky?

Mercury_Maniac 07-05-2013 02:16 AM

i'd slap something against yo grill!

Bought some beautiful top round of beef, marinated it in a savory mix for 24 hours, cubed it for shish kabobs with the usual veggies (onions, peppers, cherry tomatoes, mushrooms...mix & match) then grilled on medium heat. Also split some peaches, rubbed with oil, and grilled for 5 minutes. Pair all of that with some ice cold beer, and we were all well-served. :p

Lilith 07-19-2013 07:57 AM

I loved grilled pineapple and use it in my shish kebabs too.

Lord Snow 07-19-2013 08:01 AM

I like a good tart granny smith apple on my kabobs. Put that on side of the beef, baby onion on the other, and some green peppers.

Shark steaks on the Barbie....MmmmmmmMmmmmmmmmmmm

Lord Snow 07-22-2013 07:00 AM

I've read a few articles about not eating shark because of high mercury levels. I've heard it's good though.

Oldfart 07-22-2013 07:44 AM

Sharks down here generally don't have the high mercury, big water and small pollution.

Lord Snow 07-22-2013 08:21 AM

Going by some of the things on Shark Week, sharks have been to migrate all around the world. Not necessarily staying in particular waters.

Oldfart 07-22-2013 06:13 PM

This is true for the big sharks, the Great Whites and Tigers, but eating-grade shark is small and young.

Lord Snow 07-22-2013 07:17 PM

Having never eaten it, I don't know which types of shark are edible.

Fangtasia 07-22-2013 07:25 PM

Older large sharks are high in mercury and are not edible. Younger small sharks are edible and have acceptable mercury levels (safe to eat). Shark (or flake as it is sold as generally) is absolutely delicious!!

Shark steaks are just the bomb!

Oldfart 07-23-2013 03:31 AM

It's a dietary aberration common to people of Victorian persuasion.

Fangtasia 07-23-2013 03:47 AM

The rest of the States need to catch up!!

Oldfart 07-23-2013 03:52 AM

Hmmmmmmmm.

lizzardbits 07-23-2013 05:09 PM

Any suggestions for what I should slap on the grill this weekend for PAGAN? :) I'm doing some last minute shopping tomorrow

Oldfart 07-23-2013 08:29 PM

If you have a ripple vegetable cutter, potatoes cut in alternating directions. Leave out the potatoes and the cutter so that if you're peckish, just cut off a couple of slices and drop on the hotplate.

Lilith 07-23-2013 10:35 PM

Just grill some dogs but maybe do a fun toppings bar to go with them.
