Water water everywhere!!

OMG i have never seen so much water *L* While we are safe from flooding unfortunately for some this is not the case. A warning has come out to not do any uneccessary travelling as many roads are dangerous with water or completely impassable

QLD is in for a VERY wet time.

We have a small river flowing down one side of the house (just runoff not an actual river) and we had to dig a channel through our carport to release more water from the backyard. The water just cannot run away quick enough. Our rainwater tank is majorily overflowing for the 1st time since we moved here. The water is that deep in the yard it is mucking with our waterpipes, causing backflows of air to burst through the inside sinks.

We have an open water drain running past our front fence and it is full to the point it is covering nearly half the road as well. It is bin day, so we put the bin out for collection and the force of the water was moving it down the street *L* (240litre bin, chockers and heavy as) AND the rain is getting heavier!

Once i've got some batteries, i hope to get some pics, it is unreal!

Lilith 12-26-2010 09:24 PM

Wow. I understand that kind of water. It can be like that in Florida too. Stay safe. Don't travel more than is necessary and take care of each other ((hugs)))

sodaklostsoul 12-26-2010 11:27 PM

Stay safe.................build an Ark maybe?!?!?!?!

Fangtasia 12-27-2010 01:32 AM

Some piccies :)

Out my back door and what poor Nika is sloshing through

Little river and flooded front yard, water making its way to the main channel

Water heading down one side of our driveway into the main water channel

The channel above heads into here (this is normally dry, i walk Nika through here *L*)

Fangtasia 12-27-2010 01:36 AM

We headed into Toowoomba, had to get new batteries *L* so took a few pics on the way home

Bet this home is happy to be on the hill

Water filled creeks course

Water heading for Cambooya

Fangtasia 12-27-2010 01:39 AM

We get part way home and come across a road block with Road Closed signs...eeek. Turns out we could get through, but people needing to go to the next small town or further were stuck (see water running down the side road onto the highway)

Flooded crops

Road part underwater

Fangtasia 12-27-2010 01:41 AM

Heading for a bridge on the highway

Over the bridge (normally this is quite a drop to a dry bed *L*)

Following fire truck into Cambooya

Fangtasia 12-27-2010 01:44 AM

We headed to the other road out of Cambooya, nope defiantely aint getting out that way

Stuck on other side

Closer look

Fangtasia 12-27-2010 01:46 AM

Water Force, i definately would NOT want to be in this!~

jseal 12-27-2010 07:57 AM

That is some serious rain!

dicksbro 12-27-2010 07:57 AM

Wow! Great pictures of a tragic event. Just stay safe and we'll keep prayin' for ya'.

I bet even your fish are glad they're not out in that! :yikes:

jay-t 12-27-2010 09:00 AM

floods are no fun at all,a couple of years ago I had 2ft of water inside my shop, nope not fun !By the way I have this boat with some animal stalls just pay shipping

Lord Snow 12-27-2010 10:03 AM

Hopefully it won't be like Nashville and have houses literally floating away.

sodaklostsoul 12-27-2010 11:06 AM

Houseboats were popular once!!

Lord Snow 12-27-2010 11:32 AM

True, but I don't think they were made out of a two story executive three bedroom house.

sodaklostsoul 12-27-2010 12:59 PM

Would have been easier to pack up and move that way. :D

All joking aside, I do hope everyone is safe from water and snow.

gekkogecko 12-27-2010 03:27 PM

Yeowch!

scotzoidman 01-01-2011 11:00 PM

Yikes, this is bringing back some unpleasant memories of Music City floating away last May. Hoping for the best for all Down Under, recovery can be a long road.

Oldfart 01-01-2011 11:40 PM

A fair bit of North America is under water at the moment, but it just sits there and looks COLD.

Lilith 01-02-2011 10:54 AM

It has been so wet here the past couple of days our toilets are gurgling.

dm383 01-02-2011 11:20 AM

That's not looking good at all. Stay safe hon.

DM

dicksbro 01-04-2011 08:01 AM

I saw on the news that an area the size of Texas is flooded. Hard to image that much water.

Like Lilith said, stay safe and as dry as possible! You're in our thoughts and prayers.

Fangtasia 01-10-2011 02:15 AM

Well this part of the world is flooding. Toowoomba is very wet at present

I'm damn pleased i got out of Toowoomba when i did

YouTube - do a search for Toowoomba flooding.

Á think at least some of Toowoombas water will come this way...scary stuff actually. We have enough of our own out here!

1 dead and many still being rescued!!

Bigpond news

Oldfart 01-10-2011 04:22 AM

The Channel 9 news just showed a street in Toowoomba looking like a whitewater rafting course.

Fangtasia 01-10-2011 04:42 AM

It unbelievable OF honestly.

Places down the range have copped a 7meter wall of water, swept away homes, people, stock....just scary!

2 dead so far and they are saying it will probably rise!

Bigpond news

Oldfart 01-10-2011 04:45 AM

I saw cars trying to cross water I'd think twice about in a diesel troopie.

Fangtasia 01-10-2011 04:46 AM

I wouldnt be going anywhere near that water!

Fangtasia 01-10-2011 04:47 AM

I'm sposed to have an appointment in Toowoomba tomorrow, that'll be interesting

Oldfart 01-10-2011 04:50 AM

If you can't get a lift with Thunderbird2, think really hard about it.

Fangtasia 01-10-2011 04:59 AM

I'll check reports to see if i can get there, i heard we are flooded in. Bilbo is stuck in Brissy for at least the night, chances are it could be longer

dicksbro 01-10-2011 05:55 AM

I think somebody ought to start investigating anyone who had been hoping for rain.

Please be careful, Fangtasia. When you go out to check for mail, be sure to wear your life preserver. :boink:

Oldfart 01-10-2011 06:03 AM

M and I are blaming all the Churchies, Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, Jews and Hindi. Did none of these idiots understand that their rain prayers were cumulative?

Oldfart 01-10-2011 07:57 AM

My daughter's unintended pun. A chip off the old fart.

"I've been trying to get onto the Bris council's Floodline website (they've been advertising on the radio) but it doesn't look current."

gekkogecko 01-10-2011 10:20 AM

*passes you a hovercraft*

without eels.

PantyFanatic 01-10-2011 11:20 AM

Thanks for the update. I imagine those pics are even more concerning for someone who knows what the places look like without the water. If the dates are correct on them, it is still raining too. :yikes: Nothing like the hundred year flood to inspire a new respect for the power of water.

Pay attention and stay safe. :wish:

[ noticed the reference to your emergency assist number. I like the "000". Makes more sense than our "911" but I have a hunch equipment capability of the time had something to do with the designation. ]

Fangtasia 01-10-2011 07:07 PM

We are still dry at my place....though a new severe weather warning has been issued *sigh*

Not o much for me, but the poor buggers already hit look to be going to possibly cop another lot.

Bilbo will be staying in Brissy another night, cant get through. Roads closed, Range crossing closed. Absolute nightmare

Oldfart 01-10-2011 07:33 PM

The flashflood toll is given as 8 and on the way up.

PantyFanatic 01-10-2011 09:49 PM

I don't know who you ticked off down there but it seems you did a good job of it. :hair: While a part of Queensland the size of Germany and France, COMBINED, is under water and 70 some people missing besides the already counted dead, the place is awash [pun intended] with many of your not-so-nice critters on the move and in a pissy mood. Now the scarce dirt above water is in contention between crocks, poison snakes and people. This for you while the state of Victoria chocks on the smoke from the largest and most intense brush fires ever recorded there. Your over abundance of vermin is being off-set by the crispy critters that may be the last of their kind and some that escaped to their bunkers will emerge to desolation that will cause them to linger to a less pleasant extinction. :(

Whatever you're doing to piss off the god's, ya better stop.
