Swords
1 Attachment(s)
I mentioned that I bought a new sword and there a few requests for pictures. A few other people mentioned that they have a collection of there own. Here is my modest set of stage use swords.
|
Which is the new one?
|
Damn, does this mean I need to post pics of my collection too?
|
PF, the second from the left. Going from left to right: 1 meter broadsword from Starfire Swords, Anduril from Darksword-Armory, a 32" that I picked up from the local Renaissance Fair, and a single hand broad sword from Stage Steel. The last I modified the handle on to give it a tighter grip and make it handle heavy.

Only if you want to. I didn't include any show pieces because I only have one. |
Nice looking swords L.S
Now send them to me and I will ah ah keep them polished and oiled for you . |
Sure Jay-T, but I'll have to charge you for the privilege. 900.00 U.S. currency sounds about right. LOL.

Oh, I wouldn't say any of mine are show pieces, not by a long shot. I picked all of them up at a local pawnshop or the flea markets. And I'll get around to getting some pics up, once I can get used to my new pain meds  |
My definition of show pieces are anything that can't be used for stage fighting. Pretty much everything from licensed replicas to budk specials. My only show piece is an unlicensed replica of the Wallace claymore from Braveheart.

Hmm, ok, then by that definition, I believe all my swords would be considered show blades |
Most peoples' are. I bought a blade that I didn't put in the picture that was (according to the site) battle ready. Turns out the steel was poorly forged and didn't hold up very well to the beating I put it through. That one was made by Windlass Steelcrafts.

Yes! ;) |
LS: thank you for answering the question I was going to ask: which manufacturer/craftsperson made which blade.
Go ahead and post the show piece, as well. |

Here is my show piece claymore.
|
So shadowsfate............where's the pics?
|
Well, you're going to have to wait til I have a really good back day so I can actually go find my camera, and gather all of the swords :roflmao:
|
Looking forward to it.
|
Take some real good narcotics with an alcohol chaser and go find the camera! J/k. I can't wait........impatiently.
|

umm, even some good pain-killer narcotics wouldn't help me be able to find the camera, it would just leave me in la-la land  Plus, in my experience, a pain killer never kills my pain, just makes me not care :roflmao: |

Since we're on swords, here's two like what I own ...

Ceremonials. The originals would have been wickedly nasty.

I recognize those swords and that first one is kinda rare. Well done my friend. |

ok, to appease Lord Snow :roflmao:, I'll post one pic today, the rest will have to wait just a little while while I get them all gathered and see if I can pull of a decent pic with my crappy little cam
Can't say for sure when I'll get more taken, might be later today, tomorrow, who knows |
That's not a sword, that's a dagger. So :p lol.
|
Quote:
Yeah, I know, but it was the closest to the cam and fairly easy for me to grab from a sitting position, so :p |
Here's one I'd like to get ...

Gladius, the weapon that conquered Europe.
|
|
It's the difference between a cutlass and a sabre, basically. A shortsword vs a longsword.
|
Arr, the cutlass be the short one.
|
You arrrr purrrrfectly corrrect, sirrr.
|
I'm a knife man myself ... how is the claymore balanced ?
|
My Wallace sword is the only claymore and it's handle heavy since the blade is thin stainless steel The great sword made by Starfire is blade heavy with the balance point being approx. 5-6 inches up the blade from the hilt.

Ok, sorry it has taken me a while to get started on this project, but my son has decided since I was taking pictures of my collection, he wanted pictures of his collection of Transformers, which meant trying to find all the damn things in his room . But I'll post the pics (of my collection that is) as I get them done, hopefully within the next couple of days.
And off we go.... I added an appropriate (at least to me ) DVD for scale purposes. The first is the full sword, the 2nd is just the hilt, since my crappy little cam doesn't take that great of a picture |
