Any Doctor Who fans?

I was just curious to see if there are any other Doctor Who fans out there. And if so, have you kept up with it and what you think of the current series

Rhiannon 05-03-2010 09:34 PM

i am enjoying the new doctor. Still missing Tennant.

emptymoon 05-03-2010 09:53 PM

I miss Tennant as well, but I am liking the new Doctor.
I also like the new girl too!

Oldfart 05-03-2010 10:30 PM

I'm still making up my mind about Matt, but he's lacking as yet in the aura of a time lord. It lost me a little when Daleks became bulletproof, Cybermen were human and the Doctor became depressive.

I still watch the show, but Spitfires in space (Merlins at full throttle) attacking a Dalek saucer was a bit much. And who's idiot idea was it to revamp the Daleks?

Lilith 05-04-2010 05:14 AM

My eldest is alllll over this. He's liking it better than he expected to.

shadowsfate 05-04-2010 10:25 AM

I was introduced to Doctor Who in the mid-80s through public TV (unfortunately, unlike a friend of mine, I didn't get to grow up with the show, being American). I even introduced my kids to the original Doctor Who episodes (this was pre-2005, when the show was brought back) and they love both the original and the current series.

I wasn't sure about Matt Smith either when they first announced he was taking over (probably cause the kids and I absolutely loved Tennant's Doctor), but after seeing "The Eleventh Hour", I'm sold. He'll definitely add his own something to the role of the Doctor, like all the others in the past.

I've even kept up with the 2 "spin-offs" of the current show, Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures.

Funny thing, seeing this thread today.

Last night my daughter came into my room and asked, "Dad, what's Doctor Who?"

I've never watched it, but I'm familiar with it. I asked why she wanted to know.

Turns out her bf is all into it, so I told her we just might have to watch a few episodes.

I'm hoping to find out how Daleks can be so menacing when they are armed with a toilet plunger. :p

Lord Snow 05-04-2010 12:38 PM

Maybe it's a toilet plunger that's been reverse engineered to back your toilet up instead of clearing the blockage, forcing sewage to flow into your house and make it smell funny?

I have a friend that loves Dr. Who, but I can't get into it. I'll stick with Monte Python for my English comedy.

I've intriduced my son to Monte Python too, he loves The Holy Grail :roflmao:

One of my favorites. In fact the guild that I created in World of Warcraft is called the Knights Who Say Nu.

The toilet plunger is just a manipulator. It is the combination microwave hairdryer and anal probe that does the damage.

Oldfart 05-04-2010 08:01 PM

Does that make Honda "Hold On, Nerd's Depressing Accelerator"?

souls_cry2000 05-05-2010 09:09 AM

I love Doctor Who  . I've kept up with most of the exploits when I was still twiddling with the rabbit ears on the old black and white my uncle dug up for his nieces and nephews. I'm talking old staticy PBS BBC late nite airings.

The Doctor: "Oh, you're not, are you? Tell me you're not archaeologists."
Professor River Song: "Got a problem with archaeologists?"
The Doctor: "I'm a time traveler. I point and laugh at archaeologists."--Silence in the Library

Oldfart 05-05-2010 06:10 PM

River Song is back in the next exciting episode here in Oz, along with the Stone Angels.

lizzardbits 06-22-2012 02:29 AM

Next year is the BIG anniversary :)

My favorite episode to date has got to be "The Doctor's Wife" I could (and have) watch it a 8346928745650348 times.

Show(s) that I cannot watch, The twofer of the Library, as the whole dust motes eating you when you go in the shadows makes me have to sleep with the lights on *shudders* and anything with the Weeping Angels.

I thought Tennant was pretty durned sexy, Smith is sexy in a nerdy Big-Bang Theory kind of way.

Sexiest if all characters: Capt. Jack. Mmmm.

Oldfart 06-22-2012 07:27 AM

Cap'n Jack, why he's all Torch-woody.

BBC's gift to omnisexuals.

Do you think he's the Face of Bo?

Oldfart 10-25-2012 06:46 AM

I'm reading a series of comics at the moment, a Doctor Who/Star Trek crossover. It's good, no spoilers.

Oldfart 11-01-2012 12:59 AM

I just watched "The Angels take Manhatten". Interesting.

mayhem1978 11-12-2012 07:01 PM

Ahem....

**Waves British Flag***

Being from the land where Doctor Who was created I grew up with it. Started out with the 5th Doctor and when the cancelled it my whole family was saddened. I was excited for the TV movie but it failed to impress the people who mattered. So when it returned the whole country was excited and it is now the BBC's flagship.

I love the new season Matt Smith is very good but has yet to have his "I am the Doctor" moment.

grotochp 03-28-2013 10:27 PM

I have loved this show way back from the original series I am watching net flicks to catch up just show how much watch up to season 5 ep3 in one week lol. Which is the scariest villian, mine is the darlic.s that gave me nightmares back in 9 grade 35 years ago and it still gives me the heebee geebees along with those shadow angels lol.

Oldfart 03-29-2013 06:45 AM
