Great Stalking Songs.
Many of the heartfelt love-songs of our youth don't stand up to the light of modern day. I refer to the hyper-posessive songs we all know and sang along to.
How many can we collect, "The Stalker's Album"? My opening shot is "Slipping Away". Baby I've been watching you, watching everything you do . . . . |
There is the quintessential old Police song, "Every Breath You Take".
|
not exactly stalking and inverse possive but how about
"I am yours" by Derrick and the dominoes |
I'm on Fire ~ Bruce Springsteen

"If there's someone
Walking behind you, Turn Around, Look At Me" A buddy of mine was helping me move, & while walking directly behind me began singing this very tune...I pointed out that doing that song nowadays would get ya slapped with an injunction... |
Oh, & how about Screaming Jay Hawkins' "I Put a Spell on You", with a little voodoo & some Dom/Sub themes, for those who like their stalking hot n spicy...
|
"Possession," by Sarah McLachlan.
And I would be the one To hold you down Kiss you so hard I'll take your breath away And after I'd wipe away the tears Just close your eyes dear |
While a lot of these are possession songs adressing the intended, the creepy ones like Slipping away and Every breath you take are truly scary.
"I will follow him" is pure stalker. |
I love all these songs but this one gets me-
I Want To Come Over- Melissa Etheridge I know you're home You left your light on You know I'm here The night is thin I know you're alone I watched the car leave Your lover is gone Let me in Open your back door I just need to touch you once more I want to come over To hell with the consequence You told me you loved me That's all I believe I want to come over It's a need I can't explain To see you again I want to come over I know your friend You told her about me She filled you with fear Some kind of sin How can you turn Denying the fire Lover I burn Let me in |
It's Me Again Margaret by Ray Stevens.

Great one, AZ, I'd completely forgotten that one...all the more scary 'cuz it really was quoted from letters from a creep who had been stalking Sarah; then, just to twist the knife, he sued her for plagiarism... The Beatles "No Reply" has some creepy stalker aspects, not to mention "Silhouettes", from which Len/Mac borrowed liberally... |
I knew it was from a real stalking of Sarah, but I didn't know he sued her. Wow. Nice.
The Beatles had some other scary lyrics, too, like in "Run for Your Life": "Well I'd rather see you dead, little girl Than to be with another man You better keep your head, little girl Or I won't know where I am You better run for your life if you can, little girl Hide your head in the sand little girl Catch you with another man That's the end'a little girl" |
I have had to explain to some people that the Death Cab for Cutie song "I Will Possess Your Heart" is not a sweet song.
"Number One Crush", by Garbage is also sort of stalkerish, but very very sexy. |
This from "Blue Eyes"
Sinatra made stalking fashionable! I'm walking behind you - on your wedding day And I'll hear you promise - to love and obey Though you may forget me - you're still on my mind Look over your shoulder - I'm walking behind Maybe Ill kiss again - with a love that's new again But I shall wish again - I was kissing you 'cause I'll always love you - where ever you go And though we are parted - I want you to know That if things go wrong dear - and fate is unkind Look over your shoulder - I'm walking behind |
The great thing about the Beatles song, years later John Lennon redeemed himself with: I'm just a jealous guy.
|
Green Day and Alanis Morisette both had songs about being alone IN someone's room/house. That is damn creepy in my book! I'll go look for the song titles.
|
Green Day "All by Myself"
I went to you house, but no on was there, I went to your room, I was all by myself, You and me had, Such wonderful times, When I'm all by myself.... |
Alanis' song "Forgive Me Love" is too long for me to type out and I dont have copy n paste on my phone sooo the gist of the song is, she goes to someones house without ringing the bell, no ones there, went in the bedroom, smell his scent, danced in the shower, laid on his bed, got naked and put on his robe, went through the drawers, found his cologne, ran a bath. then noticed a love letter from someone else and took revenge by putting salt in his bed.
if you aren't listening to the lyrics, it is a pretty sounding song, but the lyrics make it creepy, lol |
How about "I Will Follow Him" by Little Peggy March?
Love him, I love him, I love him And where he goes I'll follow, I'll follow, I'll follow I will follow him, follow him wherever he may go There isn't an ocean too deep A mountain so high it can keep me away |
Yep.
|
AC/DC-"Night Prowler"
I'm your Night Prowler, asleep in the day I'm your Night Prowler, get out of my way Look out for the Night Prowler, watch you tonight I'm the Night Prowler, when you turn out the light ... Too scared to turn your light out 'Cos there's something on your mind Was that a noise outside your window? What's that shadow on the blind? As you lie there naked Like a body in a tomb Suspended animation As I slip into your room |
Carly Simon's "You Belong to Me" :)
