Farve a Jet / Russia / Georgia

Armageddon next ?

IowaMan 08-08-2008 12:54 PM

What??? Brett Favre is now a New York Jet???

I've been watching ESPN all the time and they've not even mentioned it. :roflmao:

themi01 08-08-2008 01:49 PM

that's all they've been talking about here he was at the game last night ... though not in uniform but in jets gear he even warmed up a couple of receivers after the lighting delay

themi01 08-08-2008 01:53 PM

oh for you Brit footballers who are wondering who Farve is think Beckham except longer lasting more championships

IowaMan 08-08-2008 03:42 PM

Yep, gotta give ESPN credit. They sure know how to drive everybody crazy with their never ending coverage of this story. :hair:

themi01 08-08-2008 06:03 PM

I think Comcast sportsnet broke the story

Oldfart 08-08-2008 06:06 PM

Favre may have the interest, but Russian jets bombing a town 50 miles from the Georgian capital Tblisi OUTSIDE any disputed zone is as scary as all shit.

themi01 08-08-2008 06:23 PM

You got that right O F .... Iowa I get CBS 2 NY on cable that's why I knew about Farve ..... O F how long before the whole world gets dragged into it ?

themi01 08-08-2008 06:25 PM

As for Russia I think Putin has been playing the rest of the world like a cheap fiddle

Oldfart 08-08-2008 06:45 PM

Is Georgia a member of NATO yet?

themi01 08-08-2008 06:50 PM

That's it not yet

jseal 08-08-2008 07:13 PM

I was watching a clip of a Russian armored column reportedly entering South Ossetia, and I was struck by how little had changed – at least on the outside – from similar clips from 1943 or 1945. Visually, and I know that the changes have been “under the hood”, heavy armor design seems static.

themi01 08-08-2008 07:36 PM

they are the T72 series not the brand new T90 the T90 is a Russian knock off of the Abrams not sure how many of each were built there were supposed to be 310 of the T90's probably at least 10,000 T72's ... key flaw of the T34 and T72 fuel tank runs the circumference of the turret on good hit BOOM

In my opinion, Brett Favre is a wonderful quarterback, but it's time for him to retire. 38 years old is pushing it when you're knocked around as much as any football player is. I never found out though, why after all these years did Favre want to leave the Packers? As long as I can remember it's been, Favre and the Packers, just like it was Marino with Dolphins.

Excuse me????:D

Lord Snow 08-08-2008 10:17 PM

Think about it. Favre has been playing since high school. That's about 24 years of getting hit. Think over the years, how many concussions, broken bones, dislocations, etc. has he had? Also think of how many years on average someone works for a company before retiring. I'm not saying that I want him to leave the game, and I"m not saying that 38 is old age. It's all the factors that lead me to conclude that it's about time for him to retire. It's also, just my opinion. What I think and what really happens are generally two very different things. I stand by my earlier statement even though it might upset the great and powerful (did I forget lovely?) Mistress Lilith.

IowaMan 08-08-2008 10:25 PM

Just tell me when and where Lil and I'll bend over and assume the position to snap you one. You can be our Pixies QB and I'll gladly be your long snapper. :p

I"m extreamly disappointed in Brett Favre. I think when you have played for a team as long as he played for Green Bay, you owe them some measure of loyalty. I think Brett acted very childishly in the whole situation.

Not to mention he effectively and completely SCREWED Chad Pennington out of a job.

themi01 08-09-2008 11:59 AM

well I think the world will remember him as a packer as the world remembers Reggie White as an Eagle

Scarecrow 08-09-2008 05:30 PM

Green Bay did not want Favre back and the NFL said that he could come out of retirement so Green Bay traded him to the Jets.

Lord Snow 08-09-2008 07:18 PM

I thought Favre just wanted out of the Packers and hadn't retired yet. Last I knew he wanted out his contract with the Packers and it was to go to another team. Then again I don't follow soap operas lol.

BamaKyttn 08-10-2008 06:15 PM

oh god no...... I'm assuming this is >gag< football talk...... boy you need to get laid and think of only one persons' ball handling skills

Lord Snow 08-10-2008 09:30 PM

Yes, this is football talk; and while I do think of someone else's ball handling skills.....I still like watching football.
