Anna Nicole Smith

D.O.A. at a hospital in Florida. Found in a hotel room...unresponsive.

It's a mystery as of now. Awaiting determination.

What to say? Her life has been in turmoil lately and then there is her new baby girl to think of...

I was stunned at the news. That I was stunned...stunned me!

R.I.P. Anna

Lilith 02-08-2007 05:18 PM

It's tragic. Her whole life was. She was my age.

LixyChick 02-08-2007 05:23 PM

I hear ya Lilith! Not that she was my age...but YOUNGER than me!

So much to look forward to despite her recent losses.

OMG...all I can think of is drugs in her case. And I can't help thinking..."That somnabitch, fucking leach Howard K. Stern (not to be confused with the radio personality)...her supposed fiancee/lover/father of her daughter!" Ugggggghhhhhh...He's always seemed so smarmy to me! She trusted him but I always got this shudder type feeling whenever I heard an interview with them or saw them together.

Lilith 02-08-2007 05:25 PM

Always. Makes you wonder if the two deaths (her son's and hers) are related

OMG! WOW! And...YESSSSSSSS! I thought I was the only one thinking that!

And why the hell is this paternity test taking so damn long???? Her ex boyfriend swears on all that he holds dear that the baby girl is his. Howard K. says she's his. It's been nearly a month since the test started. WTF is the hold-up????

Lilith 02-08-2007 05:33 PM

do you think she has $$?

LixyChick 02-08-2007 05:35 PM

Oh...and isn't Howard K. Stern a lawyer as well as Anna's promotional handler?

Wouldn't it behoove him to "find out" that the baby girl is determined to be his??? When the law suit is settled from Anna's dead ex-husband's estate, and her son is dead and now she is too......................

Things that make ya go hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!!

LixyChick 02-08-2007 05:36 PM

That baby girl could be worth a lot of money!!!

Aqua 02-08-2007 05:38 PM

Wow. That's a shock.

I hope she is at peace.

Irezumi Kiss 02-08-2007 05:42 PM

She might have been a mess in the public eye at times, but she was a very pretty woman, especially when she repped being full-figured. Of all the people to bite the bullet...and at 39...

I hope she just died from natural causes...the line for celebs like her is always drug related. I usually don't cry for celebs or people with money, but after all her bad breaks, she deserves a fair shake in her passing.

Oldfart 02-08-2007 08:59 PM

Shit.

imaginewithme 02-08-2007 09:52 PM

UG, I hated hearing this news today. Anything about her always caught my attention. Wow.

1nutworld 02-08-2007 10:50 PM

I hope that she rests in peace, but why is it that she (and the Hilton girls) among SO many others are "celebrities"?

A.N.S. was famous because she slept with a 976 year old rich man, in the hopes that she'd get all his money, and because she was in Playboy.

What is it that makes them any more deserving of "success" than anyone who is here at Pixies?

Would Good Morning America and 20/20 be doing interviews if someone from Pixies died today?

I'm really just sick and tired of all these famous people who are famous for NOTHING.

Pita 02-08-2007 11:05 PM

This was certainly a shock. I do hope she rest in peace. I thought Ana Nicole was a very sad woman. My heart goes out to that baby girl.

AMEN

dm383 02-09-2007 03:50 AM

Sad though anyones' passing at such a young age may be, I do feel very much as ^^^^.

Far too many people these days are being touted by all forms of media as "celebrities", merely for having been on TV once or twice, or participated on a "Reality Show" ....... and don't get me started on them!! :hair:

Better stop before I get too carried away.

I'm not sure that being an infamous widow, losing a 20 year old son, having wrangles through the courts regarding the paternity of your daughter and dying at the age of 39 actually qualifies you as a success.

If you define being famous as being successful then you're halfway to answering your own question. Why do ordinary mortals such as us put such a high importance on fame? It doesn't matter. I think these days for a lot of people, being famous is the only thing they have actually succeeded at and probably the only thing they are capable of doing with their lives (Jade Goodie in the UK is a case in point). Or is success measured by money in the bank? It's true that famous people do tend to have more money, but to measure success on that basis is surely just as shallow as wanting to be famous for the sake of it.

A.N.S. always struck me as strange in the extreme so for her to die in strange circumstances is not really a surprise either. I'm sad for those who'll miss her though.

dicksbro 02-09-2007 04:15 AM

I saw that yesterday. Very sad ... especially for that little girl. I hope she rests in peace.

IowaMan 02-09-2007 08:05 AM

Good Morning America just reported that illegal drugs were "reportedly" found in her hotel room. Hopefully that is not an accurate report.

I've got similar feelings as others as to the whole "celebrity" thing but for now I'll just echo DB's sentiments.

They would if they knew our story. We're an interesting and very special family.

Scarecrow 02-09-2007 11:44 AM

I'm with Nutworld, PF and Booger. Why put someone on a pedistal just because they have lots of money. The news media has so much time and not enough news that they have to make stories to air by giving 'celebrites' air time.

I do feel sorry for her baby girl.

Lou, I understand your point, and I agree, much of the turmoil of A.N.S's life would hardly qualify as "success". However, I ask this question.

Take yourself back to Monday Feb 5, 2007. If you became involved in a discussion with a friend, regarding if somone was successful, if they were considered famous and able to capitalize upon that fame?

Would you and your friend considered A.N.S as successful or as a tragic figure in the days prior to her death?

wyndhy 02-09-2007 02:57 PM

rest in peace anna. and peace to her family.

Definitely tragic....I loved honey girl for being a BBW and all that, and also being able to rebound a bit after crashing and burning...but girl was a mess and she was largely treated like a joke.

When she was doing the Guess ads, that's when she really was on top. If it had ended then, it would be a totally different story.

Oldfart 02-09-2007 04:48 PM

The western world has developed, mainly through magazines, people who are famous for being famous. Their antics sell magazines, without them there are not the blizzard of lifestyle comment mags, so therefore they exist in celebrity. I'm not saying it's bad, just sad.

It looks like ANS may not so much have rebounded as floated for a while assisted by substances.

Lilith 02-09-2007 06:01 PM

This story just gets weirder. Zsa Zsa Gabor's husband now claims the baby is his

PantyFanatic 02-09-2007 06:07 PM

WRONG!

Speaking of people "famous for being famous...the Original somehow gets in the middle of this tragi-comedy...

That's not just irony, that's Irony writ large...

I find people who consider themselves to successful because they are famous or rich pretty tragic. I really do. I do not buy magazines or newspapers and the only reality shows I watch are talent ones such as X factor.

I also find it pretty tragic that so many other people out there consider this kind of 'celebrity' something to which they should aspire.

Oh and by the way, I speak as a fairly talented amateur actress who chose not to do it professionally as to be unsuccessful in the field means not being able to pay the bills or have a mortgage and to be successful means being famous which is something I would hate.
