Well, it's started ...
The elections are on. I heard on the news this morning that in New York alone, 76,000 deceased people are still registered and 2,000 have already voted. :rolleyes2:
I wonder how Chicago is doing? Isn't democracy wonderful when you don't even have to quit voting just because you die. :) |
Vote early and often!
|
But I always have to wonder about these statistics and how accurate they are.
Several elections back here in Maryland, there were reports of numerous "dead" voters voting. Cries of election fraud from the loser. Turns out, almost every one of the "invalid" votes were legitimate voters, who nearly had their votes discounted. Why? They committed the "fraud" of having similar names to deceased people. Took a lot of digging through the news stories to find out what the real story was. It was a British politician who said "War is too important to be left to the Genreals" (He was referring to the shitty job Haig was doing as commander-in-chief of the BEF during World War I). As true as that is, it must also be remembered that politics are too important to be left to the politicians. And news stories are too important to be left to the news media. |
gekkogecko,
Ouch! ... but true. |
I voted absentee :D
|
Was the 46th person to cast a ballot at my voting site today. Then again, there's only about 700 people in this town so there are probably only another 50 or so who will end up voting here. Not sure if any of the 45 people prior to me were dead or not though.
|
I went to go do my civic duty, yet, alas, I had forgotten to register in this district. So dead or alive this Lizzard does not vote today.
|
Those were the same type of things we heard about Florida once.
I voted but more importantly my kids, the Lost ones and my birthed ones, voted! |
I'm curious....
Did anyone else notice increased security? |
I'm not dead yet!
Oh wait...is that good or bad for this election day? Hmmmmmm...here's hoping they count me either way! |
Why can't we ever get a candidate that promises to do nothing and to oppose anyone that trys.
Do we really need to add 534308208949023840982309 pages of new laws each year? |

Yes, because people continue to find ways to skirt them. |

dicksbro, Good question. I guess some people think that more laws make a nation more just. |

Lilith, I checked with Dearsweet, who is working at one of the polling stations, and she said that the police have visited a few times today. I don't know how that relates to your experience. |

It doesn't matter for election day. It only matters for sex. Quote:
I don't care about skirting the laws, Lilith. I care about peeking under your skirt. |

Nope, not where I was at. Then again, it's a pretty small town. Voted in our City Hall and there was about 4 ladies sitting there working the sign in table and they talked with me pretty much the whole time I voted. I'm just glad the whole thing is over. Hopefully all of the TV stations have pulled those damn campaign ads. I saw one at around 11:30pm last night and it really pissed me off for some reason. Talk about kicking a dead horse. |
I got an email today asking me to vote for some independent dude for governor :p
|
Lilith,
There are still a few bugs in the system. :rolleyes2 |
yeah....roaches cause that guy got stoned and he missed it.:p:D
|
wyndhy,
I'm SURE I don't know what you're talking about! :) |

DB...have you not heard of reincarnation? I assume each of these people came back as a...voter. (I'd prefer to come back as a voyeur) :D |
"I'd prefer to come back as a voyeur"
I did. |
