Congrats! I know it's been a tough slog but you're helping.

There was a pic of a teacher kissing a pig in the paper today & I thought of you. He told his students he'd do it if they got a certain average in their math exam. Awesome!

bare4you 04-19-2006 07:26 PM

Way to go! It is we who should buy your drinks for a while. You have a thankless job and one that most likely doesn't compensate you for all you do.

I am so proud of you!

Sharni 04-19-2006 09:30 PM

I'll buy you the drink Lil

Well done!!

Lilith 04-19-2006 09:44 PM

Soundman 04-20-2006 12:02 AM

Congrats, Lil. Teaching is a thankless profession. But oh, so important!

I'll have a Sex on the Beach, please!

scotzoidman 04-20-2006 12:58 AM

The ultimate catch-22...a crazy person can't be in your position, yet only a crazy would do it...give em hell, & keep smiling...it keeps them wondering what you're thinking...

jennaflower 04-20-2006 09:42 AM

Fantastic news :)

Congratulations!!! I have no doubt that they are putting their confindence in the right person!!

Good Luck!!

Aqua 04-20-2006 03:24 PM

Congatulations Lil!!

I'll take a Dew...

Mudslide

Lilith 04-20-2006 04:42 PM

I'll take 6.

They took it back.

I kid you not.

I signed a reappointment letter yesterday then they said they made a mistake and can not reappoint new hires yet(there are 4 of us in this situation). They said it was the same for everybody. I politely informed them that I am not "everybody" and asked them if this means I'm a free agent until they can officially re-appoint me.Bastages!!!

Aqua 04-20-2006 04:46 PM

Oh no (((Lilith))) :(

Not cool!

Lilith 04-20-2006 04:47 PM

Yeah that was at 7:00 a.m. and the day went down hill swiftly.

alspals69 04-20-2006 04:53 PM

Oh Lilith, so sorry.

But all is not lost yet presumably. They'd have to be mad not to keep you.

And if they don't want you... then i'm sure you could teach me a thing or two!!!

Seriously... i hope it all works out for you.

BIG hug!

Lilith 04-20-2006 04:54 PM

Oh they want me but that is not the point.

wyndhy 04-20-2006 05:35 PM

yoink!
bastages is right. nothing like having the rug pulled out from under you. tell them to make sure they have their shit together next time before they go offering things that aren't up for the offering.

Salacious 04-20-2006 09:44 PM

Thinking everything happens for a reason. I'm not sure what it is as of yet, but time has a way of revealing truths. You have heaps of love and support here and else where too I suspect. Some how I have a feeling things will work themselves out.

On the other hand, there is always the possibility of opening Ms. Lilith's School of Discipline and Reform I can see the queue now.

TinTennessee 04-20-2006 09:46 PM

"hugs"

osuche 04-20-2006 10:44 PM

These guys have very BAD judgement AND bad manners. :p

(((((Lil)))))

Coaster 04-20-2006 10:49 PM

Now isn't that unprofessional!!!!

((((Lil)))))

Ummm... does that mean you want my Capt & Coke back?

Soundman 04-20-2006 11:19 PM

Lil,

Well, regardless of *their* bad behavior, know that you have the love and support of a throng of Pixies.

Can you go to another school board for a job? This sounds far too shady for my liking. My dad was served well by his school board for his 40 years of teaching. This sounds sketchy, ((((((((((Lil))))))))))))).

Lilith 04-21-2006 04:30 AM

My district requires that new teachers perform acts of magic and cunning by somehow completing all the requirements for their job and an additional "new teacher program" which has required approximately 5-10 additional hours of work a week. Much of this is in the form of meetings and classes (I attended several all day Saturday ones) with long written assignments to complete afterwards, despite having just graduated from an accredited teaching college. My district does this because my governor decided it was a good idea to hire people without an education degree to be teachers and now must require school districts to turn them into teachers. So, I did all this extra work and now my school told the 4 of us who have hustled to complete a year long program in 4 months, that because re-appointment happens in April and we are not done with the program officially til May they can not simply re-appoint us. The catch 22 is that the chick who runs the "new teacher program" says we can't pass the program til we are re-appointed. Ahhhhhhhhhh I love bureaucracy.

It's not like they don't want me, I just am super frustrated.

dicksbro 04-21-2006 04:38 AM

Did you tell them that they're all liable to end up with piles of Pixie poop on them? Grrrr. I hate government.

Let's see, your governor...isn't he closely related to the infamous Global Village Idiot somehow? Must be a family thing...
