Citizen, Patriot or Hero?

Voters who visit the Votergasm website can choose from three different levels of commitment:

"Citizen" pledge to withhold sex from non-voters for a week after election night.
"Patriot" pledge to have sex with another voter on election night as well as withholding sex from non-voters for a week.
"American Hero" pledge to have sex with another voter on election night as well as turning down all non-voters until the 2008 vote!

osuche 10-21-2004 08:54 AM

I'd like to be an "American Hero" ~~ but my husband is a non-voter (thanks to being a non-citizen)......and I think he might object if I don't have sex with him before 2008! :D :p :D

nikki1979 10-21-2004 09:30 AM

Booger I don't know about Michigan but here in Fl. you are entitled to vote in your new precinct if you are registered to vote in the state. You must show ID and give an address and they will cross reference it after. If you want to vote you can contact you supervisor of elections to find out the law.

sodaklostsoul 10-21-2004 10:30 PM

So since I refuse to vote, mainly because of the mudslinging, your saying I should'nt be alowed sex?

wyndhy 10-21-2004 10:30 PM

mtv's got "rock the vote" we've got "stroke the vote". lil...yer in charge :D

babe you can have sex anytime I beleave the same freedoms that give us the right to vote also give us the right to not vote

Lilith 10-21-2004 10:42 PM

I believe that too and almost fucked up my entire college degree because I do believe that, I took on a professor who required you to show your regsitration card in order to get an A on an exam..... but you have to know that IMHO your non-vote will be simply seen as apathy not as a political statement. I think your message of disgust with the system will be lost amongst those that just don't care :(

true Lilith if I were to vote I would vote 3rd party (Libertarian). But I still can't hold it against someone who decised not to vote for what ever reason.

sodaklostsoul 10-21-2004 11:01 PM

Over the years people have tried to explain politics to me, most of them did not explain it well. So I'll do some research and I'll see what happens.

Oldfart 10-22-2004 02:18 AM

Every electorate needs someone brave enough (and funded enough) to be the "Protest

Candidate." You're not standing to get elected, you're standing to give everyone who

wants to vote against all the "polly-tickle boule-sheet" a place to register their disaffection.

Might just end up with a "protest" majority. Hmmmmmmmm

Should have thought of this a few months ago for both our elections. Dammit.

sodaklostsoul.

I think Lilith is correct.

sodaklostsoul 10-22-2004 08:34 AM

jseal I think Lilith is correct too, but why should I vote for someone I don't beleive in?

jseal 10-22-2004 09:09 AM

sodaklostsoul,

Because there will be times when the lesser of two evils is the absolute best you can do.

Do you really want people to think you are "just another one who doesn't care enough"? If not, how else can you demonstrate that care? I suspect that very few people who do vote for either of the candidates will do so convinced that their candidate is perfect.

Being part of a flawed solution is better than being part of the problem.

Ok I really was gonna drop this and not get into any more, but this little voice inside keeps pestering me.
Lets see, you mentioned lesser of two evils and few people who do vote for either canadidates, so are you saying that there really is only 2 canadidates on the ballot and not 5? I only know there is 5 because I picked up a sample ballot today from the court house. But all I ever hear about is Bush and Kerry!! So are the other 3 wasting their time? Is it true that it's all about who has more money? So if I vote for one of those 3, will it really make a difference?

The only reason I posted to this thread in the first place is because of the poll. If I choose to use my RIGHT not to vote, then this poll is making me feel like I'm a criminal and a non american which sould be punnished by having a voter withhold sex from me. Maybe I'm taking it all wrong. But I was born here which makes me a citizen. I love my country even if has it's problems. I have a flag in the back of my car window that has been there since the first day of 9/11. I always thought I was very patriotic with my t-shirts and coffee mugs of the american flag. I thank all the military persons who come into the store where I work. I guess this poll just hit a nerve with the choices of the terms used. I am a patriotic american citizen, wether it's right or wrong. I knew better then to make a post, but that dam little voice would'nt leave me alone.

Lilith 10-22-2004 05:16 PM

(((((((((sodaklostsoul))))))))))) this is why I hate it when people feel they have to post political shit. Political beliefs and religious beliefs are core beliefs and do not need to be explained or defended. To me these are areas where it's cool to just say...I believe this way. And you should not be pressured to expound on it. It's ok to just believe however you believe. Your beliefs are not up for debate. I'm sorry if anything I posted pressured you.

Sharni 10-22-2004 05:16 PM

We all got one of them little voices *LOL*

If enough ppl vote for one of the lessor three it COULD make a difference.....but if ppl dont vote you'll never know eh :)

jseal 10-22-2004 06:12 PM

sodaklostsoul,

I may be wrong, but I believe that there are only two candidates on the ballot here in Maryland.

Here is a news item about Nader being placed on the Maryland ballot from back in September so I'm not sure if anything has changed since then.. http://edition.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/09/21/tues.hot/

PantyFanatic 10-22-2004 07:46 PM

*shame, shame* :o

I was certain such an acutely aware member of the gentry would be conscious that he has six options to vote for President and Vice President of the United States as well as a provision for a write-in.

This happens to be for Harford County, Maryland, but I expect the national ballot to be the same for most of Maryland.

It’s no BFD!

Stop taking this crap so seriously. :jester:

Do you really think they do anything anyway? Who has been running the country for the last six months? It sure as hell is not anybody in the White House. We KNOW where EVERY moment of attention has been for 1/8 of the term, just like every other incumbent. There hasn’t been anybody home there for the last three months. :drive: Every night we are told of the election campaign location and for the last 30 days, every cabinet member, supporter and hanger-oner has been stumping some where OUTSIDE Washington. :box:

If you call within the next 10 days, I think it’s the gardener that answers the phone.

fredchabotnick 10-22-2004 08:36 PM

To bring this a little bit back to the original topic...
I guess I'm going to be a citizen. At least.
It's not really fair to those single ones of us out there, we get our class almost by default.

The House of Representatives, the Senate, and the President worked together to implement this legislation. It was part of the continuous process of government. More later…

Citizen here.

Cheer up jseal! Although you may not be able to get sodakasoul to vote for either of the main candidates, she sent hugs to Lilith and PF. Maybe she'll vote Libertarian - but I think Nader has a better track record.

And I saw that your votergasm web site made it to the 11:00 news last night.

maddy 10-24-2004 10:12 AM

Booger, I noticed your earlier mention of not being a registered voter. I read recently about "provisional" votes for such people. I believe it is something new this year, due to the 2000 election when millions were turned away from the poles for not being registered. I don't know all the specifics of how it works, but the impression I got is the provisional votes are counted as well, I'm just not sure how they get included in the final tally. I'd check up on it for the state of Michigan as I don't know what their procedures are. I know I read up on Texas requirements becuase I was down to the wire in getting my registration in.

jseal 10-24-2004 10:30 AM

PalaceGuard,

Well, perhaps, but I rather doubt it.

Thank you for the compliment, but I have nothing to do with their get out the vote effort - other than encourage everyone to get out and vote.

PalaceGuard 10-29-2004 10:32 PM

jseal - You never mentioned it; are you a Citizen, Patriot, or Hero?
