Ivan the Terrible.

It is not sounding very good from what has been on the news over here.

gekkogecko 09-09-2004 10:28 AM

No, I just checked the tropical weather news, and the Florida Keys are being evacuated *again*.

Lilith 09-09-2004 11:13 AM

It's super nasty too. And not in the sexy Rocco way ;)

How many hurricans can one damn area handle?

Catch22 09-09-2004 12:43 PM

Ivan sure did do the West Indies.

campingboy 09-09-2004 12:43 PM

While it is a pain, be thankful that we are able to forcast and track them now-a-days.

Lilith, what is the web link you use to see the satellight image off the African coast?

Lilith 09-09-2004 12:44 PM

that one I think

campingboy 09-09-2004 12:49 PM

These little storms that keep rolling through must be hurting the criuse and tourism industry? But then I guess the construction trades will be busy for awhile.

Catch22 09-09-2004 12:50 PM

A low building up over Guinea.

imaginewithme 09-09-2004 02:41 PM

I am really worried about this guy...man if he hits the gulf he sure will get stronger! :(

The one off the coast, listed as tropical depression 10, isn't going to survive much longer. I could go into the technical explanation why but you don't need it....

Ivan looks like it MIGHT go up Florida's West coast. Not good, cos IMO, thats the worst that can happen. Warm seas feeding the beast with energy, yet near enough to land to create serious havoc...

jennaflower 09-09-2004 08:44 PM

Who in the hell named this BASTARD IVAN??? HELLO... if that wasn't just a invitation for bad luck and distruction...

who ever came up with that name for this years list should absolutely be BITCH Slapped!!! DUH!!!

Holding out hope for all of those that are in its path... doesn't look pretty...

GingerV 09-10-2004 01:58 AM

Hang on guys, sounds like this one's going to get worse before it gets better.

Have ya'll ever considered moving OUT of hurricane alley?

LixyChick 09-10-2004 04:58 AM

I'm keeping good thoughts and sending well wishes to all in his way!

kathy1 09-10-2004 05:57 AM

Lil, I know just what you mean.....few years back, too many of em slammed up here as well......sometimes mother nature just plain needs to keep her blowjobs to herself.

I'm still keepin' all you pixies in my good thoughts and prayers.

Catch22 09-13-2004 04:53 AM

Is on the news here that it is over Cuba. That would mean it will hit the US Tuesday morning if it keeps going north??

Lilith 09-13-2004 05:15 AM

It is due here at the panhandle on Wednesday...looks to be skirting around most of the state.

Catch22 09-13-2004 05:20 AM

Over water it will be mostly then?

Lilith 09-13-2004 05:27 AM

Yes and because Frances left a tiny channel of cold water, they think it will slow down just a tad before slamming into the northwest area. I think evacuations begin tomorrow if it stays the course.

jseal 09-13-2004 05:42 AM

Once more to all the Floridian Pixies - Good Luck!

gekkogecko 09-13-2004 03:10 PM

Unfortunately, Ivan has done a real nasty to the blue iguana recovery program.

Updates from Grand Cayman

9/13/04 - Monday 9:15am
As reported by Cayman Net News: Grand Cayman: ‘Devastation beyond imagination’
Monday, September 13, 2004 At 9 am local time on Monday, as the first reports of the full extent of the damage caused by Hurricane Ivan began to come in, the early morning scene has been described as ‘devastation beyond imagination’. Just about every house on the island has lost part or all of its roof, in some cases the debris landing on the roofs of adjacent buildings. Cars and boats have been swept by floodwaters into the roadways. Some homes have been completely gutted by the wind and floodwater, with entire contents being swept across the streets. In some houses it is possible to see a high water mark on the walls, evidencing flooding of some 4 to 5 feet.

Lilith 09-14-2004 05:41 AM

They say I am basically in the clear as of this morning! So many people will not be as fortunate!

imaginewithme 09-14-2004 08:02 AM

Looks like he's heading this way. I am really nervous. We're not evacuating, so many closures and evacuations going on around here. I'll keep in touch as I can.

Take care.

BlondBabe 09-14-2004 11:57 AM

For the moment, I am in North Carolina, Unfortunately  , and we are expected to get rain and storms off of Ivan around late week....Thursday. Which means *another* flood.

Good luck to the Florida Pixies!!!! Stay safe. :)

Bardog 09-14-2004 03:41 PM

Uh Oh.......

Our office will be sending someone to Mobile Al. to work with Fox news for the next 5 days. It's still up in the air as to who is going right now.

Guess who has the least seniority around here?

Lilith 09-14-2004 03:52 PM

Yipes.....

Bardog 09-20-2004 02:12 PM

Damn that was loads of fun......
I wound up staying just outside of Pensacola.
Hope every one else made it through OK

Lilith 09-20-2004 02:24 PM
