great news!
 

I just had to come on and tell the pixie's community the great news....
Some of you may know I'm very animal/nature oriented. I am a Biology major, have done field research in Latin America, visited zoos in Australia, and currently hold a Vet Assistant training certificate, while I'm trying to get my degree and certification in Vet Tech as well (yikes, please don't think I'm bragging about that part guys, lol....but below, please consider myself to have some bragging rights, hehehhe :p )
Well, I'm still in school, but wanted to get a better job than my current go-nowhere office job..so I applied to one of the best vet hospitals in my area, in their brand new vacation and huge brand new facilities. Today I got the news, they are going to hire me!!! I'm so excited....I'm starting from the bottom just like any other, but that's where I want to be, to experience it all, and work my way up. I'm starting next week sometime (after my drug testing results come back, and of course they will be negative lol).

So that's that guys, this really is "my big break" I'm so happy:D

well( I used to be). I was for 10 years then Goodyear built a plant here and I couldn't resist their pay. please be careful at all times and don't ever assume an animal won't bite. Especially in a hospital environment. So is it a small animal facility?

It is actually a very large animal hospital, one of the best in the country I am told...so yes thank you for the words of caution, I plan to take one day at a time, and to try my best!

I officially start Monday, May 17 I have just been informed...what a great way to kick off the beginning of summer :)

What I meant was.......are you working with large animals such as horses and cattle, or small animals like dogs and cats, or avian? There are getting to be so many specialty hospitals nowadays.

Oh, okay, I gotcha....this hospital deals w/the usual dogs and cats...companion animals, but also w/ exotics like birds, rabbits, reptiles etc....nothing as large as horses or cattle, but they've had sheep and ducks...as well as the local zoo animals that they also serve..along with hawks that work the medieval times shows in our area

just got home from a lovely weekend away...I guess you could say a last hurrah before I settle in hardcore (so to speak) with the new job, thanks again you guys are great! I'll let you know how it goes...I'm really excited!

the job is great, working my butt off, i pull an 11 hr day shift Sunday thru Wednesday..but the good part is I get to have Thurs, Fri and Sat off....to catch up on my summer semester class work....I stilll can't believe I'm getting paid to take care of and cuddle animals all day lol....well it definitely is a labor of love!

You should be starting your long and well-deserved weekend today. Way to go on getting a job you love. I'm sure you will be very successful in this field.
