^-^-^Ice Crunchers Unite^-^-^

I know it is a horrible habit and distasterous to the health of your teeth but does anyone else, like me, not give a shit????

I have heard it is actually a biophysical reaction to a nutritional need for more iron. Any one else heard this?

Did any of you select your refrigerator based on whether the ice maker would make good size cubes for crunching? Or have any of you , like me, purchased special ice trays that have nice sized cubes???

Is it just me??????

again?:D

dicksbro 03-20-2004 04:15 PM

Not me, but my wife. She was just sitting beside me a minute ago chomping away on her ice cubes. :D :D

When you are pregnant, doctors are supposed to ask if you have any new cravings from a list of 7 or 8, such as- eating laundry detergent, eating ashes from cigarettes, eating wet coffee grounds and eating ice cubes.

If you crave it, you're body is low on iron, like monsterously low. But, there's a difference in doing it because you like it, and craving it, as in needing to do it right then.

Apparently, when you are pregnant, the desire is supposed to be stronger, which is why almost all women have their iron checked several times during a pregnancy, and why prenatal vitamans are high in iron.

Lil ... I too am a terminal ice cruncher .... I go to a particular market because at the bakery/drink area they have crushed ice ... really perfect crushed ice ... not too hard, not too soft, not too big, not toooooo crushed .... perfect for crunching .... I pay more for everything else I buy there, just so I can feel ok about asking for a large cup of ice from them. :D

Lilith 03-20-2004 04:57 PM

fzzy~ Rally's has ice like that. But I don't /won't eat anything they make anymore and I miss that ice damn it!!! :D

FallenAngel5 03-20-2004 05:00 PM

I love to crunch ice too. :) I've also heard that it comes from being anemic, which I've never been. The cafeteria at my college has ice that is perfect for crunching, and I prefer cubes to crushed, though I'm not gonna turn anything down! :)

I have recently almost entirely eliminated meat from my diet so it is possible I am anemic but I have always crunched it. Just now it's sort of intense.

Sharni 03-20-2004 05:24 PM

Nope...not me....i cant do it...it sets my teeth on edge big time

GingerV 03-20-2004 05:24 PM

I didn't know that, Gilly. Cool stuff.

If I've got ice cubes I'll crunch away....but I've never gone and gotten ice cubes for the purpose of crunching. Does that make me a semi-freak?

dreamgurl 03-20-2004 06:44 PM

i am guilty of chomping down on ice cubes, it bugs the crap out of everyone else but it's a great stress reliever for me

smithy020 03-20-2004 06:47 PM

Not I, my dentist would shit kitten's, He spent years getting these babies looking the way they do, that and my sis would beat me senseless she hates people crunching ect....

I just love crunching the ice at the bottom of a finished cup of Coke (or whatever soft drink I am drinking). So refreshing!

I do it all the time..and when I was in high school a friend told me it meant that you were sexually frustrated..... *crunch crunch* hmm.. *crunch* wonder if there's any validity to that??

SAVE YOURSELF!!

You've been taken in by the Wicked Witch Of the North.:dizzy: Don't listen to her or her flying monkies.:(

I'm not sure what THIS weeks "magic apple" is or what has suddenly turned to “poison”. But I don’t think ice is coming out of the fountain of youth. We have plenty and I haven’t felt all that much better about it the past few months.

I know a nice nap normally follows a nice steak.:p I recommend quit spazzing and go bite a cow on the ass.

ICE CRUNCHERS UNITE!

I crunch Ice when it is in a drink that I have, but I don't get ice for that need. And I don't care what it does to my teeth, heck I chew on jawbreakers and can usually crack them after the second bite.

I've heard that crunching ice is a sign of sexual frustration.

Lilith 03-21-2004 12:54 PM

Nice Guy...Atomic Fireballs:hot:

Oldfart 03-21-2004 01:51 PM

I don't usually chew ice, but one club I go to has an ice-maker

which makes the ice like little cups.

These I will chew, but full size icecubes and my teeth, nah.

Does this mean I'm only a little frustrated?

Me too. Mmm.

eliza261 03-22-2004 02:46 AM

Thatis what my roommate was telling me when i got a cup of ice after work that it is a sign of horney ness.. and then i got harassment. it was great! but that was what she had to say about it anyway!

LixyChick 03-22-2004 06:14 AM

OMG! You peeps have my mother turning over in her...um...ocean! (sorry...but we buried her in the Atlantic!)

If she ever caught me crunching ice, I would get the 5 (ok...more like 20) minute lecture on how ice crunching can make "hairline fractures" in the teeth that we may not notice for years to come...but they are there!

And...WHAT DID I TELL YOU ALL ABOUT MOM'S ADVICE AND LECTURES??? Huh? HUH?

Well, she was right (as usual....damn!)! A few years back, while munching on popcorn (it was the crunchier of the kernels...but none the less) I cracked a tooth off as if I were experiencing the result of living in a nuclear power plant! And, what do you think I did when no pain resulted from that? I crunched my ice and cracked another tooth off in the span of 10 minutes! I asked the dentist (as I sat through painful reconstruction) what could have caused such a coincidental happening in the same day. He said, "You chew ice, don't you"? I nearly fainted!

I'm not here to preach (much)...but ya'll better stop crunching before you end up looking like Cleatus, the slack jawed yokel!!!

*jumps off the frozen soap box*

Lilith 03-22-2004 07:03 AM

Someone has to keep my dentist in her Audi TT:D

Steph 03-22-2004 11:36 AM

It's too cold for ice here!

(and shaddup, PF!)

SuccubusKitty 03-22-2004 02:20 PM

I like to crunch ice. Nothing chronic I mean I don't specifically go anywhere or do it just to do it, but if I drink a soda I have to eat the ice at the bottom. And the best place for ice to crunch right away if you don't wanna wait for that partially melted feels like a snowcone in your mouth when you crunch it stage....Go To SONIC!!!!! They have the best crunchable ice. :) and it won't really hurt your teeth either, cuz it's not too hard.

nikanik 03-22-2004 05:46 PM

I might be the worst offender I go through a bag of ice a day. You know the kind you buy to go in a cooler. I think i might need a spanking for it.

Loulabelle 03-23-2004 03:28 AM

When I was a teenager, it was always said that crunching ice was a sign of sexual frustration........

Just thought I'd drop that in to the discussion.......hehehehe.....

campingboy 03-24-2004 11:09 AM

I don't crunch ice, but I will suck ice. I like Iced Coffee in the summer. and I will suck any ice at the bottem of the glass.

Kissy 03-24-2004 09:26 PM

Through both pregnancies I would leave at dark (and I never drive in the dark) to drive to this one drive through that makes these little tiny round ice cubes....anyway I asked the doctor and he checked my iron which is always high. In fact I have my blood tested regularly because anemia runs in my family but I have so much iron in my blood that multivitamins with extra iron make me sick. Anyway, it is a strange but strong habit. The doctor said it has been believed to be linked to a lack of iron, but for whatever reason a lot of women crave ice whether or not their pregnant, anemic, or neither. I still do it now that I'm no longer pregnant but I don't go out of my way (too often:D ) to get the specific kind of ice.

Mae 03-25-2004 10:43 PM

Sometimes crunch, sometimes suck...er...ice.
