Stay in your own damn genre....
Here the last few years it seems that every music artist decides that they should "cross-over" into other types of music. Sometimes it just goes too far. I like many different if not most types of music. Bet when the guy in the office across from me turned on his country this morning and it was Uncle freaking Kracker singing....ok WTF!?!?!?!?!
Something aint right in the world. *shakes his head and walks away from the computer mutterin* ^sorry Silky moment |
It could be worse
And now ladies and gents, for your listening pleasure:
Pavarotti sings Black Sabbath's greatest hits :p |
RPFLMAO now thereiam thats to damn funny!!!! and skip hun i totally agree!!! pick something and stick w it stop confussing me ppl!!!
~nikki |
It could be much worse
thereIam,
How about Antonio Vivaldi's deathless rendition of "Whole Lotta Love"? |
Yep, that's worse
Ya know jseal, I thought Vivaldi's version should be met with death.
Still, it would be better than Bob Marley belting out Ave Marie, dontcha think? |
It would help if they could at least stay with one genre until they got good at THAT one.
|
Does anyone remember when that nerdy dude sang Metallica? It hurt so bad I forgot his name!
|
thereIam,
Bob Marley does "Ave Maria", huh? Perhaps a Britney Spears and Madonna duet of "Quantus tremor est futurus quando judex est venturus cuncta stricte discussurus." Ah it brings tears to my eyes to think of it. |
Jewel does CHristmas carols sucked. Of course, anyone other than Bing sucks at Christmas music
|
There is always Elmo and Patsy....*shrugs*
|
I just read that the faux-opera singer Josh Groban released a cover of a Linkin Park song . . . it was meant as a throwaway song released on his Web site but the music critics had a field day with it.
|
Ok, I do have one exception to this rule of mine. Johnny Cash, I always liked his remakes.
|
not sure if any of you guys remember the group called 'europe'. but the other day i have a nostalgia flashback and wanted to look for 'the final countdown'. anyways i found a version which was played by the london symphony orchestra!!! i was freaked out cuz it was kinda good.
|
Don't ya just love when William Shatner sings Van Halen or old time Black Sabbath????
Or should I say...speaks the song! Not to mention.....elevator music!!!!!!! |
Oh wait!!!!!
How bout the nerdy guy on American Idol...who did Ricky Martin's "She Bangs"...or whateverthehell that song title is.......and now he's doing the talk show circuit and might even have a recording contract!!!!!!! HUH???????? |
Can't you just hear Little Richard doing Amazing Grace?
I can't but I wondered if you could? :D |
Skipthisone,
Ok you’re not gonna believe this one, but the estate of Johnny Cash has blocked an attempt by some advertising company to use his song ‘Ring of Fire’ to promote a hemorrhoid relief product. True fact! Here’s the link: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/3498749.stm How about THAT for “crossing over”? |
ROFL... ah Skip... that particular song of which you speak... Uncle Cracker & Kenny Chesney... is actually a great song... :) I do agree tho that it is an odd pairing.. or atleast I thought so before I heard the song.
I thought that Kid Rock's cross over was a bit much... but... I think that it is actually a credit to their talent.. to be able to go from one genre to another.. |

Wasn't that Pat Boone?????? |

People like Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Bette Midler, etc. don't count. They're untouchable. P.S. BIBI, I know Pat Boone sang 'The Osbournes' theme song but I don't know if he did Metallica . . . "Enter Sandman"? :D |

here you go lixy http://www.williamhung.net/ and yes, he has a 25k recording label now. edit: for those who were paying attention, i quoted the name wrong. i be drunk. sue me. :D |
Oh, boy :)
Tori Amos singing Cannibal Corpse. Actually, Tori Amos did cover Raining Blood by Slayer and I thought her version was fucking atrocious. Ted Nugent singing Ani DiFranco Pat Boone singing Cypress Hill Justin Timberlake singing Pantera Now those would be fun :) |
I was flipping through the music video channels and happened upon Sting doing a country tune....please, please, no.
|
Ohhhhhhhhh! That's him Scorp! TY hun.....lmfao! What's this world coming to?
And jenna? I think Kid Rock has always been a cowboy at heart....but fell in love with rap along the way! I love that man..I do, I do! |
Lixy...
I watched a documentry on Kid Rock once.. about his life growing up and such... and I didn't get the impression at all that he had a fondness for country back then.... don't get me wrong... the more I hear him.. the more I like him... tho I will never understand why he spent as much time as he did with Pamela Anderson... but anyway.. Lilith.. the only country song that I can remember Sting doing is "I'm so Happy" with Toby Keith. I wouldn't be surprised in the least tho if he may have also joined in on the tribute to Johnny Cash.... |

Steph...he did an album called "In a Metal Mood/No more Mr. Nice Guy." It included songs by Metallica and other groups too. |

I think I saw that too jenna! He was quite a wirey, lanky boy....eh? Anyway...wasn't he born in a southern state? Oh shit...I have oldtimer's disease at the moment! LOL! I dunno....but I do know he doesn't live the rocker's lifestyle but has a ranch and leads a cowboy's existence....ergo the reason he and Pamela broke up. She didn't want to move to the south and live on a ranch! Least, that's what she told Howard Stern, anyway! |
another genre hopper has turned out to be Rod Stewart... an old timer legedary rocker in his own right... has IN MY OPINION brought back old classics (Moon Glow, The way you look tonight, Smile) in the way that they deserve.... few could have ever done it so well... or dared to try
