I was looking at the hobby thread and noticed that there are a few readers on here.So I was wondering what everyone was reading at the moment and what kind of books you like to read.

Right now I am reading "Monster" by Jonathan Kellerman.

The kind of books I enjoy are fantasy,mystery and thrillers.

Lately been pc magizines but am also rereading the Talisment by Steven King. Into fantasy and SciFi.

I am currently re-reading some of my favorite Stephen King novels and a couple of bios in the works.

No book at present (sob) but i love to read Clive Cussler and Diana Gabaldon! Next on the list is to reread the Lord of the Rings series. Last time I read them was 20 years ago.

Once school starts, I never really have the time to read for pleasure. Textbook reading consumes most of my time. :( So truthfully, the last novel I read was over the summer, when I did a reading marathon of sorts...crammed in 35 books!
I enjoy mysteries and biographies the most, and you'll always see me checking out the archaeology and mythology sections at the library.

Me, too...just finished The Black House, though. Am *very* anxious to pick up Kellerman's newest.

Just read the last Harry Potter book. I have an eye on The Black House but might read The Dark Tower books again.

Just picked up Stephen King's Dreamcatcher, reading it for the 3rd time before the movie comes out in March.

Just recenting discovered Laurell K. Hamilton and trying to read them all.

At the moment I'm reading Underworld by Don DeLillo.

I eat books.

I grew up on SF, fantasy, and comics. I still love them all and read them heavily, but I have branched out considerably. Recently I started on a mystery kick. I just finished 4 mysteries by Carl Hiassen (<i>Double Whammy</i>, <i>Tourist Season</i>, <i>Basket Case </i>and <i>Lucky You</i>.) I liked them all but I noticed all have some common threads. The protagonist always is a current or former newspaper employee (1 ex-photographer, 1 ex-reporter, and 2 reporters in varying states of disgrace). At least 3 serious eye injuries (we are talking candidates for Sammy Davis Jr.-hood), and 2 very disturbing instances of animal attack that result in the injured party carrying along the animal carcass (or pieces thereof) ivoluntarily. (The dog's head scene must be read to be believed.) Highly recomended if you enjoy humorous crime fiction. I also just finished <i>Killer Stuff</i> by Sharon Fiffer about an antique hunter who stumbles upon and solves crimes. Nicely done, with a light touch. Not terrific, but the preview of the next book <i>Dead Guy's Stuff</i> makes me want to pick up when it comes out in paperback.
Currently I am half-way through <i>The Hearse You Came In On</i> by Tim Cockey. Another light mystery with an undertaker moonlighting as a sleuth. So far so good.

Not that it's a bad book..........but I am a diver and it's hard reading.....but great lessons to be learned from someone elses mistakes! And time is fleeting since Christmas but.........I WILL finish it this month!

I always get too many books from the library.

Robert Ludlow .... The Holcroft ..(something) .... just started it .... was recommended to read Ludlow, this is my first one of his though, so hope I like it! LOL

I just finished reading Interview with the vampire. Which Was okay, but I enjoyed the movie more. Im going to read the others soon too. I also read Terry Bradshaw: Its only a game This was a great book, and he has lead a very interesting life. I reccomend you pick this book up, even if you dont care much about football.

Just finished re-reading LOTR The Return of the King but never made it past the appendix again

Xanne~ I read it when it came out as a serial..............loved it.....would go buy the next one the day it was released and have it read almost by the time I got home!!!!

Rereading "Time Enought for Love" by Robert Heinlein

Lilith, I did the same thing with The Green Mile. I was impressed with the movie when it came out too. They stuck to the storyline really well.

Unfortunately not anything.... we start Hamlet in school if that counts... and I am gonna try and ReRead the Dune series.

Booger, how is the Hiassen book going? I happened upon a book fair the other day and when I was leaving I saw the paperback version of it on sale, too. Almost kicked myself!

Right now, I'm just starting the Daily Show's Jon Stewart's book, Naked Pictures of Famous People , a collection of short pieces of satire. To be honest, I didn't really notice the title until I left it on my desk at work. It received quite the reaction! So many people asked to borrow it . . . until they realized there were no pictures in it.

I'm just finishing (I hate to be without a book Michael Moore (director of "Bowling for Columbine's) book, Stupid White Men . I would recommend it to one and all. THe first chapters deal with the election and neatly relays fact after fact of ways it *appears* President Bush's team rigged the outcome.

I'm also reading a novel, written in 1987, set both in present day and eighteenth-century Calgary, Alberta, Canada. I'm not sure how well-known this novel is but it's called Between Men by Katherine Govier.

I'm currently working on "Survival of the Fittest" -by JK

Before that, it was "Assumed Identity" (I forgot who wrote it...)

For the most part I like Stephen King -though sometimes he pisses me off by screwing up the ending.

I loved "The Green Mile" (book and movie)

Other than that, I like Sydney Sheldon, Lewis Caroll, C.S. Lewis...

Steph love it so far but I'm a big Hiaasen fan

I'm reading 'The Hobbit' for the first time. Have never read LOTR either. A *gasp* goes up from the readers. I may read those next, but I was given a stack of books and there's a mystery in the pile just calling out to me. (forget the name & author - but it sounded good) I read such a variety of books, I can't pinpoint any one as my favorite. Just like to have a book in progress all the time. Stuff it in the purse and read if caught waiting in line.

I'm a big fan of Hiassen, too. I love his rantings about overcrowding in Florida!

I started reading 'Tender is the Night' (F. Scott Fitzgerald) about a zillion years ago and never finished it so I suppose that's what I'm 'currently' reading! Although in between times I read 'Lolita' (Nabokov) which is my favourite book of all time, 'Me Talk Pretty One Day' (David Sedaris) and.... OMG loads of others I can't name right now.

My one true love is John Wyndham but it's been YEARS since I read one of his. I HAVE to pick one up again this year. It's one of my resolutions.
