Well, we made our hotel reservation months ago and today we reserved a rental car for the trip. Did that for the trip to Niagara Falls and thought it was a good investment saving wear and tear on our own cars. Doing it again this time. :)
I think we're ready except for AAA's travel brochures and maps. They've been requested. |
DB the route is real easy, take I-74 to I-57, take I-57 south to I-24(just south of Marion), take I-24 to Nashville. It was about a 7 hour drive for us that include a stop for lunch and a stop for gas in Ky. You could make it a two day trip if and 8-9 hour drive is to long. Some where I also have the directions to the hotel from the Interstate.

I can fill in the blanks there...I-24 merges with I-65 just after you enter Nashville-Davidson County, continue south (on some of the roughest road you'll ever see in the federal system :P ) as you cross the Silliman Evans Bridge keep left, take I-40 east towards Knoxville, take exit 219 Stewarts Ferry Pike...the hotel is right off the exit. And if you're really gonna drive in Nashville, I'll light a candle for ya... |
Light one for Mr. Lil too. I may murderfy him if he drives like a Fla. cracker in Nashville.

thanks for the reminder, I've been trying to forget that I-65 strech :) |
Actually, we're going over to Indianapolis on the 21st and spend the night with our daughter ... then leave early on the 22nd to finish the drive to Nashville. Let's us see two of our grandkids as part of our "get-away" trip. :)
|
Why that even easier, Just take I-65 south out of Indy all the way to Nashville.

Not sure what a Fla. cracker drives like, but I'm betting he won't stand out among the local yokels. Of course, having an out-of-state license plate will buy him a lot of slack here...we're used to touristas wandering blindly on our clusterfucked street system... |

"Oldfart, there's someone driving the wrong way on Main Street" "Scotz, they're all driving the wrong way on Main Street." The reason I don't drive in the USA. |
I hadn't reckoned with the concept of an Aussie added to the mix, but rest assured...we'll find a good taxi service just for you...
But the "clusterfuck" I referred to is the fact the greater Nashville was once several smaller towns, each with its own layout, & you will find the street name two blocks ago is no longer the name of the same street you're on now, & you don't get any hints as when the change happened. Add many streets that don't connect where you think they might, & you begin to understand why even my GPS is confused... And then there's the way that, when (or if, if you're a man) you do stop for directions, you'll find that the colorful southern accents not only hard to decipher, but many names are pronounced in a whole 'nother way... |

Did you forget the 'r' in that word? ;) |
Just called and confirmed my reservation.................however I forgot to ask if it was still part of the Pixie Group. Now just need to rob a bank to make sure there is enough money to go.
|
Don't you mean rob a gas station, they have all the money right now. :car:
