If you're ready to go right now, I suggest you stop off at your fav garage & have the A/C checked first...

<12 days in August 100F or greater
<21 days " " 90F " "
<13 heat related deaths in TN

Right now, I wouldn't invite my worst enemy down for a visit...

Yep you got it now all you have to do is point us to a couple good local places to eat and we will be happy.

Hey DB, TN temps do not sound much worse than here in IL. Today it was 95 with a heat index of 102

dicksbro 08-23-2007 04:35 AM

Maybe we need a re-think about this July/August gathering. Anybody ever been to Nutak..................... Labrodar? :rolleyes2

scotzoidman 08-23-2007 08:40 AM

No, but I've got a dog that can retrieve it for ya...

All seriousness aside, I'm hoping that current conditions are a one-off (we've broken 100-yr-old records here) & that next year should be more moderate...which is not to say that it would ever be really pleasant here in July, just normally it's not life-threatening...but if this drought+heat continues for much longer, I'm gonna have a lot more pressing issues than whether I get to meet n greet with my online friends (we are trying to start a little nursery business here, & crop failure has become my state's #1 problem)...

Hey, maybe some naked raindancing will work...

sodaklostsoul 08-23-2007 08:59 AM

We have plenty of rain this week!!!!

The child is camping at the beach, she just called to say it is cold and wet but is hoping the sun will come out this afternoon for a least one swim.

Scarecrow 08-23-2007 11:14 AM

School started back this week around here and they are all letting out an hour and half too two hours early because of the heat.

scotzoidman 08-23-2007 01:49 PM

Same here, except they started back last week...all school bldgs have A/C, most of them working, but something about the cost of about a zillion $$$ to do the same to the buses has them sending them home before the afternoon triple digits set in...

:bump:

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm..... this is sounding better and better all the time!!! Plus there's plenty of time to save up for it!

This is a strong possibility for us! :nana:
