Sorry Steph, but the boys from Philly showed up to play tonight. This was the hardest fought playoff series I have ever seen. I have gained a new respect for the Leafs.

I was at work and only got to see a bit of the first period but, judging from the score, it would appear the Leafs *didn't* show up for that game! Philly outplayed them pretty much the entire series. They deserved to win. |
Well SS, can I join you in the "Guess we'll have to wait 'til next year" club? :p AVS blew a 3-1 series lead and are out of it now... :(
|
Quote:
Sure you can join, Aqua hon.......Who'da thunk it, eh? Detroit, Colorado, and St. Louis all eliminated in the first round? I think this will only serve to make them all much hungrier next year. I wonder if CuJo will still be with the Wings come September? |

Philly looked really good last night, now its on to another Canadien team. Will you be pulling for Philly or Ottawa. |
*sneaking myself in the door and sticking my tongue out real quick and running back out the door* :p LMAO
We are still in it :-D |
Go Ducks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D:D:D:D and Go Wild!!!!!! :D:D:D:D

I lived in Ottawa for two years and saw my only NHL game there so I'll be rooting for Ottawa. Go Sens Go! |

I've never been a Leafs fan per se . . . I'm in a tough situation - I'm living in a crazy hockey city and I kinda support them . . . I haven't been a mad fan since the '90s with the Habs, then major expansion came and I backed off . . . I love hockey, I love Olympic hockey . . . I'm just wishy washy when it comes to teams. As well, I loved Hasek so I loved the Wings.
|
Wondering who will tire out first for this game tonight.
|
Man, it was almost over in the third period of OT, too! Must have been a let down emotionally for anaheim!
|
And, the Ducks have it. What a long game!
|
Yes they did, Steph. A long and good game. I knew one of them had to be getting tired after all of that time. At the end of the 4th OT, Dallas had 65 shots on goal, Ducks 53. Awful lot of shots.
|
That's what my b/f said, too but I said, hmm .. . not that many, really! One of the games against Philly, Belfour took 75 shots! I know it's not fair to judge the shots like that but 75 shots!!! For some reason, 65 doesn't have the same ring it usually does.
|
all I have to say...after watching my team lose four straight to the Ducks...may they or Minnesota (bless you guys for putting Me out of Roy HELL) raise the Cup in victory when these play offs are over.
|
Roy does rock, you must admit!

Sorry, Steph, on this I will have to disagree as will Cabry, I'm sure. We simply don't like the guy. Never have, never will. ;) :p |
He's a Canadian (originally a Hab!!!) and he's an awesome goalie! come on, you have to give it up for Patrick! :) :) :)
|
I would love to have Patrick as the Flyer goalie right now.
|
<bump>
Come on, hockey fans! Who are you cheering for now? My heart's (sorta) with Ottawa. Who are your second choices in this long struggle for the Cup? Even poor Don Cherry's tired at this point! |
Don Cherry tired??? Impossible!! ;):D
Well, since MY Red Wings are out of it I've had to find another team to cheer for. Since I'm in Missouri now I thought I'd root for the Blues. But they're out of it too. :( So in true American tradition, I'm rooting for the underdogs. I'm rooting for Minnesota right now. And I like Ottawa a lot too. Both relatively young teams and not in the league very long. Maybe not very exciting as far as the television networks and the League are concerned, but if they're good enough to make it to the Finals then they deserve to be there. But if Vancouver and Ottawa end up in the Finals, Don Cherry will be so happy he won't know whether to s**t or go blind!! Oh, how I miss getting the CBC coverage now that I'm all the way down here in No-Hockey Hell!! :( |
A lot of people I know cheer for the underdog, too.
As for Don Cherry, I was quoting a Toronto Sun sports columnist in reference to all the games that have been on lately. Even if there's no game scheduled, the Sports Network plays old games! |
i'm going for the ducks and the wild in the west (either is fine for me) and in the east the senators (nj should let someone else have a shot at it)
|
I agree with you 100%, darkmanx!!
BTW, it's great to see you post again! ;) |
And, SS just informed me that the Wild have won. I was hoping for a Canadian final but that's the eternal optimist in me!

Red Wings GM confirms Hasek talks 6/24/2003 Detroit Red Wings general manager Ken Holland has confirmed that retired goaltender Dominik Hasek is considering a comeback. On Monday, Hasek's agent told TSN that the superstar goaltender had contacted the Red Wings "several times over the past couple of weeks about the possibility of him coming back." At first, Detroit management would not comment on Winter's claims but, on Tuesday, Holland admitted that it was true - Hasek was considering a return to the National Hockey League. Woooooooooooooooooooohoooooooooooooo! |
being a sabres fan and knowing how tempermental hasek is ya can have em
|
Quote:
I'm not the Hasek fan that Steph is, but dammit, I'll take Hasek over CuJo anyday!!!!!! I just hope Ken Holland has the balls to go for it and re-sign Hasek and send CuJo back to Toronto.............They can HAVE him!!!! P.S. Thanks for the update, Steph!!!! |
You're welcome, SS. I know Cujo was growing on you but he's no Hasek!
The rumour is that Jagr and Cujo might be signed to the Rangers. |
The Dominator is back in the NHL, Wings must now deal Cujo
(CP) - The Dominator is back. Now the domino effect begins. In one of the worst-kept secrets in hockey, the Detroit Red Wings announced Tuesday that 38-year-old Dominik Hasek is ending his one-year retirement. Wooooooohooooooooooooooo! |
Well, the Dominator was a total bust this season. Although I will say it was the right thing to do for him to refuse half of his $6million salary since he barely played at all.
Any opinions on the mess with Todd Betuzzi/Moore and the subsequent suspension??? And btw, Welcome to any and all hockey fans who have joined in the past few months. |
Personally i think that what Betuzzi got was warranted. I know there is a lot that goes on that we never see. But all sports is getting to violent..even the kids are getting to carried away and the parents are fighting. Maybe he was made an example of, and hopefully he didn't mean to do what he did. Doesn't change the fact that Moore is seriously injured, and who knows may never come back. Just my two cents...GO AV'S :D
|
I think he got what he deserved, too. It was premeditated.
Go Leafs go! |
Everyone says that violence can not be taken out of the NHL. The hockey at the Olympics was great. Everyone loved watching it. That was true hockey. It required skill, not a goon squad. I think that one of the reasons that the NHL can not or will not remove the violence is that there are not enough players today that have the skill to play good hockey.
