I worked as an extra for two weeks on the movie......I am there if you know where to look. It was an absolute blast. See I loved the book and the author, Martin Sheen was my teenage crush and Christopher Walken was one of my favorite actors at the time. I met them all and to tell you the truth they were the most down to earth people. In fact my friend told Sheen how I had had a bad case of teenage love for him and he took me out to lunch in Niagra on the Lake where most of the movie was filmed. It was just a case of fate for me meeting my faves of the time and I even got paid for something I would have done for free. It was an absolutely wonderful way to make a lasting life memory!

Excellent!!!!!! What a wonderful experience.

This whole mess of a thread was worth it to get to that great story!

Don't have my VCR hooked up yet, but I'll watch for the next time it's re-run. I've never seen the original movie, but I sure do love the TV series.

I disagree.Politics and religion should be discussed,the more often the better.These are two issues that effect all of our lives. Could it be that the reluctance to discuss either lead to a more powerful fndamentalist view in religion and,well you know who now occupies the White House.In this country,we take for granted the freedom to include a good political dscussion for fear that it would turn ugly.But it wasn't the case in this forum.I for one don't have to resort to calling somebody a doo doo head just because I don't agree with his politics. Now pass some of that ice cream over here.

My original statement was not pointed at anyone...it was just that...my take on the thread! It was not I that made it personal...if my statement wasnt like....then ignore it...i was answering another member who queried what i said.....

Ok....I never said what you wrote was "foolish or single minded" so stop putting words into my mouth thanx....i also as you may recall do not have a problem with freedom of speech...the only problem i have is with the subject matter...as i have seen this type of thing get out of hand before....like i said earlier in this reply...i was only trying to protect the members from this happening again by changing the subject.

And others below what i posted chose to keep going with the original theme....the only reason i reposted was because i was specifically being spoken to...and i think its rude not to answer

And before i know it i'm getting barreled for being angry and rude and other 'frogshit' from another member whom for some reason read more into what i wrote than is there

And this to me is the problem with political threads. This is Pixies - not a place for petitions or blacklists. People come here for fun & frivolity.

I moved this thread to a storage bin so that I could review it and let cooler heads prevail, because things seem to be becoming heated and arguments directed more personally. This is a no flame forum and I do my best to help keep the atmosphere here such that no one wants to spoil the fun by engaging in heated arguments.

Was reading along and keeping the duct tape close by....and then I got to Lil's post and looked around...........
