OK, CaliDreamin....you're certainly entitled to your opinion, but in general flaming is not how we operate on Pixies.

It can be very difficult being a single woman - especially a single woman over 25 - and dealing with the social issues of who to bring to a party when everyone else you know is married. It's emotionally stressful.

At no time did any of us attempt to compare the situation to solving world hunger (in terms of order of magnitude). However, Shadozfire asked for suggestions and we gave them to her. That's what Pixies is about - being friendly and helpful.

There are many advice threads here that 'are nothing considering all the problems in the real world'. But they are real problems in each of are own worlds. SF has been living in Texas for only a short time and was told she needed to be at this event and she needed to have a respectable date. It's bad enough trying to meet new people and make new friends... then your boss demands you bring a date to a work function. :huh:

Anyway, as osuche said, Pixies is about being friendly and helpful.

Oh, and sexy. Let's not forget about that. :D

I'd just like to add that scary outmoded sexist bullshit in the work place IS a pretty big issue. If there were REAL sexual equality across the world, who knows how fewer REAL problems there'd be. If women were more respected, and their opinions and suggestions heeded perhaps there would be less war, fewer rapists, less child abuse, fewer car accidents, no honour killings within certain cultures etc etc.
